Personally, I prefer her original look to the plain, dull, and pretty damned boring pink tracksuit. Though what I'd _really_ like to see come out is a figure of 18 from later in the Cell Saga-- when she had those kind of like short, capri style jeans, with the black vest and sneakers instead of the brown boots that she had worn at first. I'd like to have an 18 like that in my DBZ collection 🙂🙂🙂

Lol Seriously though, I can't speak for anyone else but I personally prefer that look not just for purely aesthetic reasons. A big reason I like that one best is because that outfit is way more practical to fight in than a miniskirt and denim jacket 🤔🙂

I actually really want a figure of her in the Buu saga when she fights kid Gohan & Trunks. It's basically just her original design without the jacket, jeans instead of the miniskirt, and flat shoes. It's a really simple design but I like it, think it might be my favourite.

Im baffled by Tamashii adopting the imagination works hips, they were universally panned when Goku released, yet now its the "all new" articulation technology? They literally sculpted the backsides of the figures to hide how horrible it looks kicking forward, but in doing so restricted the backwards movement. Over engineering at its finest, just revert to the old system. It didnt even look any worse lol, now it looks like theyre all wearing shorts.

Those 2 figures should have been general releases at $40 a piece. I forgot to order them by the cut off date but i think i wont bother adding them to the collection afterall. I love the old designs way better

Those faces are inexcusable. Even if those were faces on a Marvel Legends figure, I’d say they shouldn’t have gotten through production. *Maybe* if this was one of their $35 releases, it’d be alright, but wow, that is terrible.

Agree that these aren’t acceptable, but take issue with the point about being premium releases. The premium in PBandai refers more to exclusively than being better quality - I think the difference in meaning of the word in Japan v the west has led to a lot of undue criticism. Through the Japanese outlet directly there isn’t usually much, if any, of an increased price tag, considering these come with effect parts and are new molds etc. For example I order direct from PBandai Japan via a proxy and even with shipping the releases end up cheaper than regular releases in the western (U.K) That Bandai uses PBandai to increase its profit margin while making international markets pay a lot more to get them is a different issue. But I don’t think this is an issue of P Bandai not being ‘premium’ enough (as that’s not the intent), but rather issues with how certain markets are left behind and for Figuarts specifically more general issues when it comes to quality control.

@@AnthonysCustoms the initial retail at P Bandai Japan for this was 6,050y, which is about £37. Regular releases here are around £34 (for basic releases like Saiyan raised on earth) to £55 (for pretty much all other releases), with bigger ones like Broly coming in at £65. So the original prices are not an issue considering the lack or reuse and effect parts with these releases. The issue is what happens on the international market and how the Japanese centric approach to these releases is meaning they cost a premium elsewhere. Though to be honest I paid the same price for Android 17 P Bandai release (£50) that I pay for all other equivalent releases (for example latest Krillin) so here the only issue with P Bandai is how scarse they are, so maybe this is specific to US.

it's embarrassing for a line this expensive and over a decade old, to have widespread accounts of quality issues like this, especially the issues with the face paint details which I would argue is a deal breaker.

I honestly just got these and the Kefla figure just to not miss out on them, but they're not good, I don't know why Tamashii doesn't do shading anymore, I haven't purchased dodoria but he looks subpar without shading, and a bunch of figures would look way better with a little extra paint. At least 1st form cell, android 20, and the movie figures look good

Just received the androids today. 17 looks kinda cheeky but 18 oh boy, I can hardly see her eyebrows on any of the faces.. so disappointing. Definitely super Saiyan 3 like you said.

How about the upper thigh swivel? Those sculpts don't match up. Same thing on both Androids. It's almost like a flashback to Toybiz ball hips. Why did they sculpt them to look like they were wearing waders or thigh high boots? Just make a nice straight thigh cut that "hides" in a neutral pose.

Old designs are way more fun, but I also refused to pick 18 and her brother up because they look nothing like the characters. It looks like fan art, like the facial proportions are way off. I noticed it first on the First Form Frieza (which I think you may have brought up in your review of that one, its been a while since I saw it) and now ive been getting more critical about these-- these used to be an almost insta buy.

In Hong Kong if the figure is not popular, the price dropped. It costs 33usd in Hong kong's figure shopping mall now and still no body want it. Same issue happened to Android17.

Great review. 17 and 18 looked Sub-par. In comparison to there previous Z counterparts. I cancelled them immediately. Also, my SSJ4 Goku's waist is starting to turn Red. Im sooo disapointed. There quality has dropped. I hope my upcomming releases for Jujutsu Kaisen and Future Dragon Ball Z releases have improved.

Hello from the future! The quality of DBZ Figuarts is still as inconsistent as ever. They look great, and the faceplates are close to perfect. However, the arms pop off on a few, they look cheap without shading/matte finish, and many have loose joints. For instance, look at Mr. 3.0 Trunks.

For the price point, these are severely unimpressive. This should be a $30 figure ......at most and gotten on sale. $200 for both of these guys seems bad. Forward Torso articulation - Is there a reason why the industry is repelled by this? It feels like they are intentionally hindering it across the board for some reason.

This has got to be the worst looking figure to come out in this line in years. What a huge disappointment. And it sucks even more because we have to preorder them like 6 months in advance, and we can't know that the figure is gonna be shit until after it releases. It sure looked fine in their promo photos. But the ones we got have ugly faces, missing eyebrows, and super shiny rubber skin that's the wrong color?! For $80?! They have to do SOMETHING to win back our trust after this because hoooly fuck. I should have just stuck with the third party Class E Adventurer Android figures instead.
