S.H.MonsterArts - Monster Hunter - Rathalos Review

Rathalos is basically the mascot of Monster Hunter. He's a flying wyvern known as "the king of the skies" because of how he attacks foes from above with fiery breath and venomous talons. His Japanese name, "Lioleus", references his role as the lion of the Monster Hunter ecosystem, a top predator with few equals. The one accessory I really feel this set is missing is a fireball.

Awesome Rathalos review there! I just imagine an all-out Kaiju mayhem with Rathalos, Nargacuga, and Godzilla as well.

The wing joints are too delicate, trying to change the wing pose mine broke in 2 places and the ankle joint was broken out of the box. I'm trying to see if anyone is having breakage issues. The wings are interchangeable so they should be able to handle being popped off and on. Makes it very difficult to pose.

I see, did not have any issues with this one HOWEVER i did handle it super delicate and heated up the joints after the balljoint on the Nargacuga broke off.

@@therealPayne yeah but heating joints shouldn't be a pre requisite to handle a figure and I've been collecting SH Monster arts for a long time and I've never broken pieces other than spines on the Gigan figure I have. But some of the pieces were broken in the box. Hopefully SH. MONSTER ARTS cans end spare parts but I doubt it. Need to find a glue that is strong enough so the parts can still be used as intended.

That one is a pretty nice figure! Is something like an wyvern, doesn't? These Monster Hunter figures are really good, I might buy one, in future purchases...

The Nargacuga and the Rathalos are Categorized as Flying Wyvern's. But honestly i'm glad that you call it a Wyvern in the first place, most people just use to mistaken them for Dragons. (well wyverns are subspecies for dragons but its really not the same thing~)

@@NatsuFirefly Dragon ended up becoming a generic term for "flying and fire-breathing reptile", so they put anything in that category. And when it comes to talking about mythologies in the real world, each culture has a different "dragon", we who are super nerds are the ones who bother with all the nomenclatures... But definitely, GoT's were wyverns! I refuse to accept those as dragons! But, come on! Nargacuga is categorized as wyvern too? Isn't he more of a "giant dire-bat"?

@@Lillythu well in the Monster Hunter World every monster has categories and allmost all of them are categories of wyvern. Fanged Wyvern, Bird Wyvern, Brute Wyvern, etc. There are also non Wyvern Categories like Fanged Beast or Temnoceran but the wyvern are definitly the majority here And the Skeleton of the Nargacuga is just simply classified as a Flying Wyvern its just simply not more then that^^' Just one little Note: Only monster who can not be put in categorie get put in a universal Categorie that follow 3 Norms to be part of 1. - Very Rare and Powerfull monster that outscalles every usual Wyvern in Might 2. - No known or Unique Skeleton 3. - No known Limit in Age (what i mean by that is that there is not known how old they can get and that some of them are known to live for thousands of years) 4. - Is able to end/change the entire Ecosystem of their Terretory just by Existing or doing to much damage on their own if you fit all this Norms then your a Elder Dragon despite some of them not being even close to a Dragon (look at the Kirin in Monster Hunter to know what i mean by that) the most generic dragons in monster hunter are subcategories of the Elder Dragons known as Black Dragons and until now there are only 3 Known elder Dragon - Fatalis - Alatreon - Dire Miralis why they have their own Categorie? Well they are litterly living World ending Apokalypses on their own basicly the gods of the Monster if you want to call them like that if you have any more question about monster hunter then look it up or just PN me anywhere you like. My name is on all platforms i use the same. Dont want to write more here because i tend to write a lot about topics that i love aaaaaaaand dont want to spam this comment section with just my way-to-long comments^^'

he can and does attack with the tail but its neither one of his main attacks nor a very special one just a generic tailswipe but the reason for his tail being that spikey is probably because rathalos are just male rathian (rathalos allways male, rathian allways female) and the rathian is know for her poisones spikes on her tail so its probably the spikes on the rathalos tail are probably just because they "could" have been rathian spikes if he was born female~ also even tho the rathian has a poisonous tail, the rathalos has poisonous fangs even tho they dont look like it but its not a strong poison he is not known for that its more of a "he also has poison" thing unlike the rathian where she is really known and titeled for her poison BUT the rathalos has way stronger fire breath so in that regard he is way stronger its also good that his feet is so flexibel in that figure because he is known for lifting other monster up high in the air and just dropping them afterwards just letting gravition do the damage he is a very smart monster~♪ did i ever mentioned that its my favorite monster? so might sound a bit biased but srsly the most special part about his tail is that if people dont want to keep killing the ratha to get the most rarest item they usually just cut of the tail look if they get the rare item in the tail and if they dont just cancel the quest and repeat thats called a tail-run nowadays its more of a joke then a thing people still do is something that they did more in the older gens then they do today in the newer games since they where harder to farm back then also the flying poses are the most important ones since his title is the king of the sky (he really is flying almost the entire hunt why a lot of people hate to fight him since he is kinda hard to hit in the air)

Just purchased mine holy crap he wasn't cheap but let me tell you as somebody who doesn't have any posable figures excited.I think it would be a crime not to continue with the line.. supposedly Zinogre in 2021? Honestly I think they could make every monster and make a killing.
