Outstanding diplomatic clarity on Dr Jay Shankar's candid talk which doesn’t suffer from the subdued n self doubting erstwhile diplomacy , especially that of Rajiv Gandhi n MMS era

As always Dr Jaishankar has clarity of thoughts and he brings his immense experience and thoughtfulness into our foreign policy. Hat’s off to you sir. Modiji well done for recognising his ability and talent. So we have a great leader who is sensible in choosing the best talent available. Of course Dr Jaishankar accepted the challenge! Our neighbours are greedy and waste people who want to beg from China and India while playing the game. One day we will kick them like football when we both sit on high table along with USA. That will happen in 15 years and hope i will be there to comment again having fun.

Why is it that after all the help India gives to its’ neighbours (big and small) that our neighbours (nearly all) do not appreciate Bharat’s help! This is done at the cost of instead helping our poor working Hindus (Muslims get the most unbelievable handouts/should be stressed today/Soros do your research). J mentions all that India helps with…but he has forgotten the help of Indian military and professionals -even as far as Turkey (recent earthquakes), UN,…..(yes even the Maldives) etc. India must be a lifting tide to the neighbourhood the book says! However, remember respect comes with expecting some gratitude…it is the way of the world! Bharat’s generosity from BC in every form has to be started- ‘The Counting’ repeated until it is clearly understood and accepted! Our ancestors in spite of ‘ physical & mental slavery’ were able to keep going..Now it is our responsibility as strong enough now! BE SMART ‘BHARATIANS’…

Mr. Jaishankar must remember that his MEA and NSA also have repercussions. No matter how big you think you are as a country or democracy, India's neighbours have their limits; it is better to come to terms with the reality; otherwise, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives are recent examples alongside the LAC with China debacle. India does not have the military muscle power, technological prowess, and economic potential to dictate its neighbours. The writing is on the wall. I am amazed that Delhi University has produced a PhD, Dr Jaishankar, that will cost India two trillion dollars in the next twenty years due to its conflict with China alone. He is the most incompetent EAM in Indian history he is as incompetent as his leader, Mr. Modi. I wish India had a statesman to take his country to a respectable place in the emerging world.

making senseless comments shows your frustration. India cannot be responsible for internal politics of any country small or big. At times these countries try to play India against China to see how much money they can get, at other times the religion card is played to the hilt and in the case of Nepal it is communism vs neutral polity. Each of these conditions requires the contemporary leadership of these countries to play in a certain way. India being a stable democracy, irrespective of the party in power has held a point of view and supported the neighbours when they need and at the same time cannot ignore if they take an antagonistic attitude. It takes two to tango, so the responsibility lies on other countries to also develop a relationship with India. India is a reliable friend even if there are some hiccups at some times.

What debacle? The relationship is always in a flux. Bangladesh has its own internal politics dictated by Islamism .Bangladesh under Zia ur Rehman and BNP was no friend. Nepal has unstable governments who keep on using India just like Mexico uses USA but no societal animosity. Bhutan has been mostly pro India. Countries might move to China umbrella and certainly can find out how costly their friendship is . Pakistan and Sri Lanka certainly found out

India is having a failed neighborhood policy. Doesn't have guts to talk about Myanmar, Bangladesh under Hassina, Baloch massacre going on.... Nepal & Sri lanka disappointment with SAARC discontinued.... And Taliban no planning under National Security Strategy NSS yet. - What global leader will we become if we can't manage our own affairs. If it's not us, who else will do it.

On Bangladesh ,India would do better if they try to build people to people relationship and ditch a fallen despot Hasina. She's deeply unpopular in Bangladesh which is why she feared free, fair open election, and tying up India's future to one leader, one party India ventured for a wrong direction ,with current situation it has been given a rare opportunity to revamp it. It's understandable that Hasina is very popular in India ,but she is not in her country. India must show its capacity to view things from other perspective.
