It was around 1971 when PM Indiraji was also finance minister also.she cut 25% contingency amounts to all the departments including defence. Mr. Chatterji a close friend of mine was an high officer of Sena Bhawan, he pointed out a note on the allocation file that defense is the only department where in no cut in required allotment is admissible and he met Indiraji personally with the file and she was kind enough to admit her mistake and allocate full amount to the Defense 🎉
