I have heard so much contradictory information about Huan Ri and Cheng Yi. Your video is the first that has presented a clear picture of the chain of events. Now it makes perfect sense to me and confirms some of my conjectures. Thank you for the video.
CY is nothing but “A stone that the builders rejected that’s now the corner stone” It’s his resilience. I was really sad to learn of all that CY endured, but folks, you know what? It’s all paid off, coz we out here are ready to support CY for as long as it takes. He’s multitalented, sings and act devotedly. What a blessing to C-Drama’s Industry. Meeen!! y’all got lucky to have such a matured guy around y’all. Thanks to the Directors & Producers as well as the company that believes in CY by giving him the opportunity to entertain us with his diverse skills 👍🏻 CY is capable of any role thanks to y’all 😊❤️. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇫🇷
I totally agree with you, author. Cheng Yi may need to leave his current company in order to play more contemporary roles. Huan Ri does not strike me as a company that has Cheng Yi's best interest at heart (based on what I have learned). Maybe that is the culture of his entertainment world. One thing that puzzled me is why people think that those who have excelled in Period Drama cannot excel in Contemporary Drama. The basic acting skills in period drama and contemporary drama should be transferable. If you are truly a good actor, you would do well regardless of the type of drama. I think he has done an outstanding job in portraying both Zhou Yi Ann (Draw the Line) and Fu Yun Sheng (South Wind Knows). If I remember correctly, Cheng Yi said several times that the difference between the Period Drama and Contemporary Drama is that costume takes longer to put on. He also mentioned that you need to have first hand experience to play a contemporary role well. I happen to agree with both of his statements. I think that Cheng Yi will be equally successful if he has a chance to play more contemporary dramas. It seems to me that what sets Cheng Yi apart is his complete dedication to his profession and that he has some unique insights when it comes to his profession. Some of the examples are: viewers are the judge of his performance; learning from viewers' understanding of his characters and using them for his next drama; the importance of thorough understanding of the role via various venues and do reduction once the filming starts; playing from your heart and with your whole heart; not act the role but be the character. He seems to have been a hidden genius in his entertainment world. He is destined to reach the pinnacle of his profession and will reset the bar of his profession (to a higher level). PS: I am a total outsider who knows absolutely nothing about Cheng Yi's entertainment world. In fact, I do not watch any TV drama series (east or west). It is a miracle that I have even come across Cheng Yi. It appears that I'm meant to know Cheng Yi. PPS: A good company actually does care about the employee's future and well-being (and I know it first hand) because it is a win-win for the company. It seems to me that Huan Ri ought to create opportunities for him to take on roles in contemporary dramas. Maybe it is different for the entertainment industry? (at least where Cheng Yi is?), or I am too naïve.
