I can't help but feel he lip synced this performance. First, he holds the microphone way further on those high notes than in other live performances of this song. But he still holds it just as close for other parts of the song, so you can't say the microphone is simply louder. Also, there's one part of the song where he moves the microphone closer, but the sound fades instead of getting louder. Lastly, he jumps up on stage while singing, but you can't hear the movement affect his breath at all. I know he lip syncs sometimes, but I just hope he's not starting to rely on it.

I would like to make certain nuances that everyone seems to forget about when arguing that Dimash sometimes makes Lipsinc. The sound of a concert is not as simple as it seems, otherwise Sound Engineers would not exist. Regarding the movement of the microphone without affecting the audio levels, dynamic tools are used that help balance these differences automatically, which is necessary when singing live. There is room for movement without affecting the audio. Both in event performances and in large spaces, a "safety track" is often used; if the sound reaches your microphone at a level, the microphone picks it up live. If for some reason, sound stops coming out of your microphone, the backup track takes over. Regarding the similarity of the live performance and a recorded piece, you can see it in both opera seasons and musicals, professionals are able to repeat the same pieces day after day without perceptible differences (by the way, musicals also use the same sound techniques as in concerts). Finally, it seems to be forgotten that Dimash has operatic training (and qualifications). Opera singers normally sing without a microphone, and are trained to produce certain nuances in their voice that accentuate the harmonics in the "singer's formant" around 3 kHz because they need to effectively surpass the sound of the orchestra and be heard by the audience with clarity. In this case, you only have to look at his larynx (there are numerous shorts that allow you to see it clearly) and personally I think that today he has enough voice to sing SOS however he wants. And to show a fun video (if you search a little you will find many more). kzbin.infoSEnteWLWeCI A hug 🙂

@@Inzaghi... I hope you're right. I guess we'll never know. There's only one instance where he was definitely lip syncing and that was The Story of One Sky in Almaty. Everything else is hard to know for sure.

I'm a huge Dimash fan but I have to acknowledge that those vocals are from the 2018 Slavic Bazaar performance.

@@johncorrado4876 ohhhh you're right. I just played the two over the top of each other. Exactly the same. Even every vibrato. I think when he performed the song at Yekaterinburg, he didn't hit the high notes and that might've made him lose confidence. I actually liked that version and all its imperfections, but unfortunately he's too much of a perfectionist and probably saw that performance as a failure.

@@cinlocybin I do not believe he ever lose confidence. Sometimes the voice can be hard to maintain especially in long concert that has very loud background music or very close loud audience so lip syncing is absolutely acceptable. Why is it an issue and a topic to discuss? BTW, you guys have heard the same song hundreds of times already it's not like you have not heard the live version before
