Really nice of GMMTV to do this for pride month. I hope it does become an ongoing thing and isn’t just a performative action for pride month. To be honest, while the writers seemed quite aware, as did P’Golf as a trans woman, I was somewhat disappointed by the answers that the younger actors gave. For them it might be easy to just focus on the script and their acting but there are real world impacts on what they are portraying and I would like for them to be more aware and informed on these topics and what queer people have to go through everyday. When acting a queer role you only have to worry about how the chaste true feels in that situation, but as a queer person in real life, you can’t come out of that character, you have to live your life in this way constantly and continue to face all the difficulties, from big to small, every day. It changes a lot and it means a lot, and it felt like they gave a bit of a cookie cutter answer when they said it doesn’t change their views or how they approach the characters. Like P’Golf said, the characters are not genderless, their gender is still relevant to the story and to their place in it, but it seems the actors don’t think about or see that fact.
