Then there's iD Software and their Quake - which had music composed by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Granted, NIN is not the same league as Iron Maiden (I think), and Reznor might have agreed to do Quake's score because of previous iD's game - Doom, which he and his band enjoyed when they weren't busy shredding on their guitars. But still... having a renowned industrial metal artist doing a soundtrack was certainly something. And it was back in the nineties, when this was an exception rather than a norm.
