At around 82k miles back in Apr. 2019. The first S-VCM I bought got flaky at around 120k miles, sometimes working, sometimes not, then completely stopped working in late 2023. Replaced it with a second S-VCM in Jan. 2024 and that one has been working great since.

Yeah, from my novice perspective, VCM defeat devices like S-VCM are essential add-ons for the V6 Hondas with VCM. In my case, it was a sensation of very slight loss of power. Granted, letting off the throttle and the accelerating again gets all 6 cylinders going again, at least briefly. One also gets all 6 cylinders while the engine is warming-up from cold, which in Wisconsin winters, can be 15 minutes or so. The whole sensation of VCM kicking in and out, even though it's very subtle, is such an annoying driving experience.
