That's about the only reasonable explanation I've heard for liking magazine disconnects. Can't say I've ever seen a ported 5906.

Yeah. They were popular with Police Command Staff and the sales reps who pushed them. Everyone else? Not so much. Marky

I handled a limited edition PC 4006 that had a comp from the factory. I would have bought it if I hadn’t just bought a different pistol.

Great video. I just subscribed to your chan! Question...I just purchased a SW 5906 used($500) on 10/21?24. It came with Hogue grips. Seems bulky. What grips do you recommend ? SW factory for the 5906? Thanks

Excellent, liking the pistols. I own a 1989 5904 Gen 3 S&W. Not interested in getting either of these but I appreciate this tutorial. Liked and subscribed

That porting is distinctive and looks like Mag-na-port. They're still around. What they do is take the firearm and machine those ports with a sinker EDM. The big selling point is that the process is completely burr and stress free and won't harm the accuracy of the barrel. EDM is a very cool technology and I've had experience with Mitsubishi wire EDM in the past. You can cut right through the hardest, thickest material with no significant heat or stress. The only disadvantage is it's slow and power hungry. It's usually used for creating and modifying dies in tool and die.

The stress-less info is very interesting. I have seen folks aftermarket port a barrel and slide that just results in cracking. I didn’t know EDM helped reduce stress. Accidentally learned something. Marky

I believe if you drift out the rear sight there is a spring or something that can be removed to disable the mag disconnect.
@John191110 ай бұрын
Huh. It’s up there? I would have guessed in the frame somewhere. 🤷🏼♂️ Marky

The firing pin safety plunger and the magazine disconnect plunger are both captured under the rear sight. When the magazine is removed, the spring and plastic plunger on the left-hand side of the slide pushes the ejector down which disconnects the trigger bar. Inserting the magazine defeats the pressure of the plunger spring and pushes the ejector back up, reconnecting the trigger bar. Removing the spring and plastic plunger from the slide disables the magazine disconnect.
