The sound you hear is a rhythm of prose. In ancient times, this type of singing was done while reading a poem. The most famous poem was written by a prince during the Ayutthaya Kingdom. He was a famous poet and warrior at that time. And the melody was used as a rhythm for the rowers to keep up with the rowing rhythm. And it was a way to honor the king.

The person holding the peacock tail waving is responsible for telling the rowers what position to row and the direction to row.
I watched the live on TV for almost 3 full hours, but the time passed very quickly. And shed a lot of tears because it is a very beautiful tradition that is hard to find. The Royal Barge Procession is held every 10 years.🥰😍
I am proud of my country and its Culture. I love thailand.

On the 22nd during the second dress rehearsal. We encountered both wind and heavy rain. Until the practice had to be lifted. Today we received bad news since morning. that storm "Ja Mi" made landfall in Vietnam. And the northeastern region has been affected by the storm since last night. And the influence from the storm may reach Bangkok in the afternoon. But when the convoy of boats left the port at 3:30 PM, the sky was cloudy but the waves in the river were calm. It made us very relieved. Thank you Mustafa 💛💛🤘🙏🙏🙏

Yes, that song is called "Kap Ha Ruea". Made for use in boat parades. There were people who sang lead vocals and choruses who rowed a rowing boat. To make the rhythm of rowing in unison.
I am Thai. I do not praise my country as being superior to any other country. But the wonder of this land is that all 4 regions of Thailand have different cultures, but live together happily until it becomes Thai culture. ❤🇹🇭🥰
Thank you so much for sharing thie Royal Barge Procession for both the celebration of 72nd Birthday to King Rama 10 on 28th July 2024 and the region culture after the Buddhis Lent period. I hope you enjoy our culture and keep sharing our wonderful events from Thailand in the future.

I am Thai and I am very proud of the arts, culture and traditions of the Thai nation.❤
2:40 The officer on the front of the royal barge who waved the peacock feathers was the signal officer who control the rowers to row the barge. There were 4 pieces of chanting, most describes the power of the king. The rowing patent of the 4 royal Barges is different from the others that the rowers raise the paddles 45 degrees to the air, this is called "Nok Bin" or "flying bird".
Boat Song Poem Some parts describe the beauty of the Suphannahong boat And some parts talk about the good deeds and royal deeds of the king

The song you hear is a type of poetry called Kap He Ruea. This composition is used to sing while rowing the royal boats in order to control the rhythm of the rowing. The composition of Kap He Ruea generally consists of 4 verses: a verse to honor the King, a verse to tell the story (which describes the reason for holding the royal ceremony), a verse to praise the boat, and a verse to praise the city.

The rowing position you saw was called Nok Bin. This type of rowing position is only used for royal barges. The rowers must row in this position throughout. If they want to change the rowing position, they must receive permission from the King.

There were 4 royal barges in this ceremony: Ananta Nakarat Royal Barge (used for carrying Kathin robes or important Buddha images), Suphannahong Royal Barge (used as a barge for the king and queen), Anekatachat Phuchong Royal Barge (used as a barge for the royal family), and Narai Song Suban Royal Barge (currently not in use because it was built to commemorate King Rama IX).

This is a song of praise for the King according to the ancient royal tradition that has been passed down from one king to the next, in which each king has preserved and passed on the ancient tradition to the present day. Thailand may be the only country in the world that still preserves the ancient tradition and the royal barge procession that is hundreds of years old, still beautiful and still practical amidst the great development that has occurred later.
