Indy was very important to the movie plot. He witnessed the strength of that Arc. So they rather bury it than try to use it. Without him more people will die because more people will try it open.

@@kotaro07 he wasn't. The ark would've been taken to Hitler where the nazi's would've researched it. Even when we count the detour that indy made them take on the island, the nazi would find that they haven't heard from that base in a while and would've sent troops to collect the ark. Indy delaying them and stopping them on the island and returning the ark to America ensured that the axis wouldn't have had control over the ark. He did save the world.

Part of why the Nazis are horrible is because they killed a fuckton of innocent people. Having more of them die just so the Fuhrer can get melted isn’t really worth it if it increases the number of victims in a war. I prefer that one guy who placed a briefcase with a bomb at Hitler’s table. Too bad that table said no to the small explosion

actually, these guys left out a fundamental peice of the puzzle, if indiana jones did not exist then he would not have gotten in such bad terms with abner who would not have left Mary in Nepal with the medallion, she would have been in the US, so without him nobody would have ever found the ark

Indiana Jones was needed in the story because the Nazis followed Indy to Nepal to get the headpiece. Even if he left the story after Nepal, the Nazis would still have needed him that far. Amy and the other guys were wrong. Also the Ark would not have ended up in the hands of the Americans whether it went to a warehouse or a museum. Furthermore, while the guys note that the Ark made it into a US warehouse thanks to Indy, they dismiss this as him being useful; however, had Indy not been present for the film's climax, the Allies would not know where the Ark ended up. Since the location in question was a Nazi base, it is rather likely the Nazis would have sent more forces to investigate after the first group (by that time turned to dust by the Ark) failed to report in, thereby obtaining the Ark. The movie states in the opening phase that this is the US's main interest in the Ark-preventing a dangerous weapon of mass destruction from falling in Nazi hands. While this reduces Indy's merit (after Nepal) to "being there for the ride", one may go so far as to suggest that the movie's ending implies that the above stated is what would have happened had Indy not been present for the film, thereby validating the plot. This would probably not impress film critics much, but it is consistent.

They were only digging in the wrong place because Indy got the medallion away from them. Had he not been at Marion's bar, they'd have killed or captured her and got it, thus giving them both sides and the correct location for the dig.

@@maisiesummers42 you left out the part where they wouldn't have even opened the ark on the island, but instead let Hitler open it. So basically, because of Indiana Jones, WW2 was able to happen and Hitler was able to rise to full power.

@@jish55 Consider that after taking it to Crete they could have flown it to Berlin from there. But they don't. Why? Cause the French dude wanted to be all powerful. Despite what they said about the plane, I don't think he ever intended to let Hitler have it.

@@jish55 it depends on whether or not they would've let Hitler watch first. Belloc wanted to see it first and his reasoning was that he wanted to be sure its real. Even if Hitler had watched first then another would've taken his place. Indy made sure that the ark ended up with america and more or less the allies side during the second world War.

They are really good movies. I really recommend that you watch them, except for that last one. The 4th one is not worth mentioning. Sorry I mentioned it.

Honestly, I would have loved to watch these guys examining the whole movie just to see if Indy truly was irrelevant to the plot. I'm curious if they were silent the whole time because of how dumbfounded they were or if they would speak at various times to make good points.
