S1:E9| How to Fix Yanmar 3HM35F Diesel Engine Clogged Fuel Filter

Our seemingly never ending diesel engine problems just turned out to be a clogged fuel filter issue! Thank goodness! But as positive as I usually am, I have to admit that I asked myself a few times if all this mechanical work is just beyond me. Dude, boat work is tricky!
In our previous episode we had a great time in Half Moon Bay for Labor Day. But our trip ended with our Yanmar 3HM35F Diesel Engine coming to a halt as we neared the Golden Gate Bridge. We worked on it for hours as we sailed against a strong ebb tide and ultimately had to sail all the way back into our home port of Emeryville.
I talked to a lot of people about the problem, I bled the system, I checked the lines for clogs, I contemplated purchasing an new fuel injector pump and trying to replace that myself. Uhg, it went on for several weeks. Finally, I asked a friend from Berkeley Marine center to stop over to have a look. Bama pointed me in the right direction and I honed in on a clogged fuel filter/water separator, cleaned it out and viola, we were now back in business!
Or so I thought. Strangely enough, a different issue involving water in our tank backed right up to this fuel filter clog. It was a total coincidence but it's all true! Our next episode will go through the trials of removing a tank full of watered down diesel and everything that comes with trying desperately to save our precious diesel engine!

This is exactly what happened to my Racor filter. Spent several weekends chasing the stall engine problem from tank to filters to hoses to Fuel Lift Pump to injectors. Ran out of idea then decide to remove the Racor and Voila!! Those gunks foul up inside. I should have come see this video and save myself many weeks of heartaches. Good show mate!

I am thinking about installing a Racor 25T fuel filter/separator. Do you think it matters, I see you have a 24T??? I think R25T is bit longer and both are 10 micron, not sure if it would matter?
