Back in the 70s drove trains through there many times, relieved there for 3 weeks at one time, the station foreman's building no longer exists.

We appreciate your comment and you echo our sentiments exactly. Despite the decay and the decline which is visible in most places we travel to, there is still so much beauty and good which remain and we choose to focus on that. Thank you for travelling along with us! 😁🚗

I just love your wife's comments. So descriptive and apt. She really has a lovely way of describing things. Her laughter at that picnic spot was the best. I ended up chuckling. The best part of that signboard, was them mentioning the greening of the place. Well I ain't see no greenery. I went past there 2 weeks ago. From C.T.

Thank you. My lovely wife regards a sense of humour as one of the best qualities in any human being and she was blessed with it in abundance. It's one of the countless reasons I love her so much. 😍 I've always found her laugh contagious and it comes so easy and naturally to her. Hopefully the greenery will still come with time and if they get enough rains, but they did a splendid job with the picnic site, we thought that was very well done! 👌🏻 We didn't know at the time that Leeu-Gamka actually falls under the Prince Albert Municipality. 🫣

I have always loved the Karoo. My ancestors come from Kleinkaroo. De Rust se wereld. Vlakteplaats. I grew up in a family that loved to travel to out of the way places, especially as my dad was a steam train enthusiast so we would go train chasing! Such a happy time back then. Thanks for bringing back good memories.

We're always so happy when we hear that our videos of the places we visit, bring back good memories. 😊 Coming from a Karoo family who also loved the less-travelled road, you must also appreciate and love the open spaces, fresh air and absolute silence these areas provide. Truly food for the soul. We hope you're watching our current episodes of our most recent trip to the Karoo Heartland of the Eastern Cape. You'll see the odd station and perhaps even an old steam engine in an upcoming episode. 😁🚂

@@DustBugsTravel Yes jong! I lived for a while in PE and toured Eastern cape a lot. I love Hogsback! Never had much money so it was always kind of bush camping, but totally awesome. Whata country we have! I have been in New Zealand since 1993, but spent some years back in SA because of family circumstance. Initially, I was very homesick, particularly for the Karoo.. But NZ is also a great country and wonderful that my three children could grow up here and have a future.

Thank you so much, she will be very happy to hear about your comment. 😍 I live in hope that one day I'll be able to convince her to appear on camera, but all my efforts have been unsuccessful thus far. 😏 She has always been super camera-shy, so for now her voice and laugh will have to do, I'm afraid. 🤩 You're always welcome to join us on our travels. 🚗

That sign with Prince Albert as town would have caused an existential shift in my universal paradigm (or something like that) and I would have immediately assumed that somewhere I turned left when I should have turned right... Or that I had driven off the edge of the map and back on again on the wrong map...how often have I not zoomed past there and not given the place a passing thought. Must get a vehicle without a zoom gear and just take my time idling in your tyre tracks. Gonna do it. Cheers.
