It's so sad that due to the ignorance of Tao's former owners Allison and th Staff had to make the decision to euthanize Tao because his condition was deteriorating and his prognosis was not a positive one😢. (I don't mean that in a nasty way, I mean that they were like most uninformed primate "pet" owners who lack the proper knowledge regarding diet, exercise, and general care.) I wish that Govt officials would change the laws regarding Primates, and other wild species that are allowed to be "domestic" pets, so that this decision doesn't have to repeat itself!🙏🏼🙏🏿🙏❤❤❤

I feel like I've lost a friend 😢 Rest in peace Tao! I needed a good cry today I guess. Everytime one of the group passes I know we all feel the loss & when we have a new baby everyone celebrates🎉 I absolutely love this show & wish nothing but the best for all! Allison, Jeremy, John & all the staff care so deeply for these primates & have done an amazing job taking care of them. Fighting for these animals so there won't be another Tao or the other babies that come to them from the pet trade. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you guys do for these beautiful amazing beings!!💜🐒🦍🦧♾️

What a lovely enclosure for the odd couples - they are in paradise. The test with the snake intruder was exciting, as care staff noted, the primates came together as a community to protect one another. Your decision to always consider the well-being and quality of life for all your primates is admirable. Alison's emotions are understandable - the lack of proper care for this capuchin from the beginning is/was a form of animal abuse, its improper diet causing rickets. People shouldn't own these wild creatures. Rest in peace and comfort sweet Tao.

This episode in particular is a harsh reminder of what is still happening in illegal pet trade or even if it's legal in some cases it doesn't make it right. To remove these wild animals from there natural habits which has everything they need in them just so someone can keep them as a pet I honestly don't think most people keep in mind how difficult it is to try to replicate there environment so they get the proper diet , sun , vitamins and so on and the animal suffers because of it. Rest easy taue

When I was 7, I was given a kitten. 4 months before my wedding, I had to rush him to the vet. I asked my vet how long. He said, for you or him. For 20 years, he was by my side. It was my turn to stand by him. I know it is hard. You did the right thing.

Thank you Allison, Jeremy and all the animal's caretakers for having compassion and not making these wild animals suffer. I'm so sorry you had to make that decision. You all know more than any viewer what they go thru due to someone's ignorance and selfishness when it's time to let them go and be pain free. Because of people's ignorance in wanting to make pets out of wild animals, many don't live the lives they should have nor lived as long as they could have. Do not blame those that have compassion when one has been suffering for so many years. When it's time, they know better than others that have not cared for them throughout all the years.

Lol, I was thinking about Nia being cautious and thinking about predators in her native area, I glanced away and when I looked back Mitsa was halfway through the cages to go outside….since I had been thinking about predators my very first thought was a lion.😮 🦁🐅🐆 Quite a shock to the brain, it was scrambled thinking what in the world did I just see, luckily I focused on her tail and the commentary caught up my brain righted itself. 😂

This primate doesn’t know that they are going to put him to sleep forever. This poor thing seems to be hurting all the time. So the team decides to do it. My point of view is, I hurt all the time. I don’t have that many teeth to chew foods that are healthy for me. All I want to do is sit in the sunshine and feel its warmth on my body. Does that mean I have to be put down to sleep forever? I know they are going to do this to the primate to end its misery. I’m miserable but I don’t want to be put to sleep because I’m slow to walk or have to have someone chew for me but I want to live. I will tell you when I’m ready to be going to my home in heaven

If Tao is eating and drinking then leave him be. He's not showing signs that he's in pain. He gets around like an old man.
@mchevre
@mchevre Жыл бұрын
The problem is that animals like these will go to great lengths to hide any and all signs that they're in pain. Most importantly, showing signs of being in pain, in the wild, can make one an easy target for predators. Furthermore, in social groups like the ones monkeys have, showing signs of weakness can cause one to lose status in the hierarchy. All this makes it difficult to assess how bad their pain is, so they have to rely more on objective signs of their condition to interpret how their subjective pain might be.

Such a pity. I know it doesn't help to blame, but yes, like Alison, you can't help but feel anger towards irresponsible, ignorant pet owners. If you're going to own an exotic species, do your homework! Better yet, countries should ban wildlife pet trade internationally.

If there is anyone to get upset with, it isn't Allison or anyone at MW, it should be toward the ones that tried to take a wild animal and make him a pet. You're absolutely right.

If he was in that much pain we would be able to see it When someone moves the way he was moving it doesn't seem to be that bad for him or he would not be MOVING Right? Therefore I would not have put him away Like the BOSS said "We have no way in knowing how much pain he might be in" So if you don't know? Why did you release him from his life?!!
@mcprillaman
@mcprillaman Жыл бұрын
you made all these quality of life assumptions based on the one minute of video.....are you a vet? primate specialist? spent any time at all with this poor creature? well, these people are vets, primate specialists , and have spent days, months , and years taking care of Tao so I think they know best how he shows discomfort and can make the best decision because they have done the work....spent the time.....cared for and loved....while you make foolish comments about something as important as quality of life from a 1 minute clip. These animals are instinctually programmed to not show weakness or pain and as he was the leader he got up everyday to do his duty to his girls whether he suffered or not but when his girls started to push him out....that's the sign because to his group having a strong leader is a matter of life and death and they could feel his suffering.Rip little Tao.
@ritamccomas9271
@ritamccomas9271 Жыл бұрын
Wild animals do not show the pain they are in due to their survival instincts. In the wild an animal showing their weakness and pain is like putting a target on their back. Allison was right, nobody knew how much pain Tao was in, they didn't release him from his life, they released him from his pain.

I don’t understand how a group, committed to rescuing and providing quality care to primates, can even fathom it being acceptable to euthanize them. If they understand that primates are sentient beings, as is humans, then why not allow him to go peacefully when HIS body decides it’s the end. If the concern is his pain then treat his pain. The body shuts down on its own. If the concern is that he is being targeted by others then place him in a private enclosure or even in a medical wing of the hospital. It’s not up to us to determine when a life is to be ended. Humans aren’t euthanized, and we are distant relatives to primates, so why are they?
@eunicestone6532
@eunicestone6532 Жыл бұрын
If other animals notice they are ill they begin treating them badly sometimes. Also medical care is expensive and they don't want to see them suffer. I think they are very humane in their decision about Tao. We will miss him.

It was time for the staff at MW to have compassion for a wild animal that was taken to be a pet that was suffering and let him go. Wild animals don't show their weakness of being in pain. That would just be like telling all wild animals and he could have been attacked. Which would you want for Tao? To be released from his pain caused by human ignorance or be ripped to shreds by another wild animal?
