I needed this today. I’m a SAHM and I’ve heard so many people say that if I bought more food I’d have more time for a job. It baffles me how people have this attitude that feeding our families is a ‘luxury’ and a waste of my time/talent. Thank you Jill for reminding me that this is important

That baffles me as well! I'm RIGHT NOW going through my screenshots and cookbooks in search of my favorite recipes and combining them in my own cookbook. Cooking from scratch is becoming a passion for me and I'm so excited to see where it takes me!

As I listen to you read your book it just makes me feel good inside. It made me think of what I call accomplishments. I don't live on a homestead, but I do garden every year. Back in 2019 my best friend taught me how to can. I could go on and on about how that has changed my cooking, but I won't. I have always loved making bread, but now my homemade bread is all I eat. I don't like store bought anymore. If we have hamburgers and we want buns, I make them. I can easily throw them into the freezer and thaw out how many I may need. Tortillas...once you've had homemade, you can't go back!! We do eat out occasionally, but most times afterwards, I would have rather fixed our own food at home. This video made me think of how many things I now make at home and don't buy at the store anymore, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I pulled sourdough cinnamon buns and a mini loaf of sourdough out of the oven as your podcast pops up on KZbin. ❤😊 Thanks for the encouragement to keep going with homemade food from scratch ❤😊 Excellent tips

I absolutely loved this video. I loved listening to you read your book. I ordered the paper back and I got it on audio from Amazon also (although I might be disappointed if it’s not your voice reading the book) . I like to listen by to things when I’m driving in the car. I may be 60 years old, but I wanna be just like you when I finally grow up.

We eat out very infrequently, and every time we do get food to go, I have digestive issues after. It helps me to have that reminder if I grumble about how much I cook

I am the same way. Also, I can’t hardly buy anything premade/ processed any longer. It’s really pushed me to make nearly everything from scratch and dial in my food choices. Not necessarily a bad thing. Definitely saves us money. lol

You look great without makeup and your hair is very beautiful. You look wonderful. I'm having to cook a lot more because we went on social security, can't afford these restaurant prices. I would love to get your book. I made my own sourdough starter and then someone gave me a sourdough starter for Christmas. I have made a round loaf of bread and some buns with my starter.

It always baffled me when products say "tastes like homemade" instead of promoting it as better than homemade.

I love your videos! I'm probably older than your Mom but have been cooking from scratch since I graduated from high school. I am always learning new skills on this homesteading journey. I have Jersey and Brown Swiss cross cows and have a BIG question I hope you are able to respond to. You mentioned in a previous video that you were glad your cows would be freshening soon but you were only going to milk one of them. How do you manage too much milk for the calf and mastitis risk? Keep up your good works.

By the way. Vegan activist, educator and author Earthling Ed recently uploaded a video in which he basically hated homesteading as a whole. I thought that particular video was a brain dead take on agriculture. Please do a podcast episode on the hypocrisy of veganism sometime. 10:47-11:04 That's a ridiculously wild statistic on food preparation and kitchens. 🗣️📢🔥

Ooh I hope Jill sees this. That sounds like such an interesting idea for an episode. I really like Gaz Oakley's content. He's a vegan homesteader. I used to watch Earthling Ed, but I stopped after noticing too many of those discrepancies you mentioned. Too much hypocrisy. You can absolutely be a good steward of the land as a vegan/vegetarian.
