Someone needs to write an intro for Anna that's as beautiful as the intros she writes for the rest of the cast!

I love Rachel’s questions and observations. I haven’t heard enough of the cast talk about the chemistry between Bo and Lauren so it was so refreshing for Rachel to observe that in the rewatch!

1x06 is one of my favorites, period, and definitely a top episode of season 1. mostly because it focuses a lot on kenzi, but it's also such a good cross-section of the lost girl ethos - part comedy, part crime drama, but deeply focused on relationships and love. the scene between kenzi and dyson in the cemetery is always a heartstrings tug for me; kris and ksenia did such a good job with that, and it's so sweet to see their connection blossom. as to anna worrying about bo coming across "schoolmarm-y" (or, in rachel's terms, "mean mom") - i think because ksenia's older than kenzi, it's easy to forget how young the character is. kenzi's 19 in season one. bo is, i think, 28? so yeah, the sisterly relationship necessarily has a bit of maternal instruction with it. which is not to say that kenzi doesn't also teach and nurture bo, but kenzi as a character had a very truncated and tumultuous childhood, and does require some of the guidance and discipline that bo (and the rest of the extended faemily) provides.

Rachel, you are a truly wondrous human being! Got the opportunity to meet you at a fundraiser in LA eight years ago next week. Was very nervous to say hi, which melted away because you were so immediately friendly. Within 5 minutes we were talking Lost Girl and I mentioned my friend back home who loved the show too. You *instantly* proposed a video greeting for her, and even asked her to be your Valentine! I can't put into words how much that meant to her. Thank you for being such an incredibly sweet human being. Also, I love snakes and animals, but almost every square inch of a basilisk is super deadly, so making the decision to end it was very much justified in my eyes. Too great a chance someone uses it to hurt people!

I love how Tamsin (Rachel) made Anna really think about her points. I personally thought there were very valid and interesting points. I can’t wait for Rachel’s next episode to hear her takes. Even thou I have seen every episode a ton of times watching the episode after the rewatch makes me giggle to see what you guys were talking about. So thanks for allowing me to enjoy Lost Girl all over again in a very different way. ❤❤

I assumed since the basilisk was on life support and Lauren was saying "poor thing" that it was past saving and killing was a mercy but I did wonder why that wasn't made explicit. So I agree Rachel!

This was fabulous, as all of them are. I’m enjoying the shit out of this podcast. Lost girl meant so much to me partially because of when it came to me and also because of how surprising it was. All the ppl in it have so much heart and really bring dimension to their respective characters. Lol I’ve cried each one of these so far. It was so great to see both guests today and brought such great memories. I love what he was saying about you surprising them when you auditioned. Honestly part of why the show meant so much was for that reason. I expected a meh escapism type sitch and it was a fleshed out beautiful dynamic story. Thanks for doing this podcast!

I had that same thought about the bar. I thought it was supposed to be a human bar but it looked like the dal, but why would you be in the dal if you were out to test stuff. Glad I wasn’t the only one to wonder that. Excellent episode, both the show and this. 🥳

Wasn't she testing her powers on Lauren? Or Lauren was convincing her to test them? The Dal would be the safest place to do that wouldn't it so she doesn't get caught or go feeding frenzy in a human bar?

Loved the rewatch, thank you It's fun learning about the behind the scenes of Lost Girl. I lost my ability to stay focused, I've had ADHD all of my life and Spectrum. I'm trying to say, if I hadn't learned about Faenfiction I don't know if my fascination would have continued to be strong. My granddaughter Ireland is doing ok. Lots of hair with curls, after having her head shaved for surgery. Peace Beth

I definitely thought it was uncharacteristic to kill the basilisk! I wish Zoie would've had a line to the effect of "it's suffering/it's getting abused by the researchers, lets put it out of its misery"

Rachel’s comment about it possibly being a different bar - what I thought about that scene is that it was shot like they were in their own little world. There were no interruptions, no familiar faces, no distraction; it was just Bo and Lauren completely absorbed in each other despite them people watching

Woo i liked that Rachel brought up some questions that helped them discussed more about the scenes!! I personally thought it was a different bar tho with all humans because bo and lauren were like "out in the field" trying to test her control of her powers but then bo also ended up saying that she's not ready...? That was how i interpreted it... As for the snake, the lab was testing the toxins(?) of the fae on human subjects (the lab looks shady too) and it wasn't supposed to be alive on its own anyway - since it has been proven to be a threat to both fae and human (more importantly to the fae), i think it was a good call for Lauren to wanna end its life support (pretty sure The Ash would have approved/allowed that too)

Sometimes when someone you care about is hurt/injured/suffering you can be more callous towards things that might be associated with the cause of that harm, regardless of that cause's culpability. So when Anna was comfortable killing the basilisk it made sense from a couple of points of view. One, if it was used by these people here, how could she be certain it wouldn't be used again elsewhere. Sure, the light fae might have some way to give it a happy retirement home, but she wasn't super savvy in the ways of how the fae dealt with underfae, and what little she had seen/heard showed that they weren't concerned with extending them excessive kindness. It would be a fair guess that the fae elders would just have the thing destroyed anyway, but I'm not sure Bo would've known that. Two, back to my original point, even if the basilisk had nothing to do with Kenzi getting poisoned, it seems entirely in line with a natural emotional reaction that Bo might have some latent hostility toward the basilisk. Sneaking in the lab, alarms, Kenzi on death's door, all of that leads to dramatic tension, not time for reflective thought about the nature and source of one's impulses. Anyway, that's my two cents, since you asked. :)

The snake wasn't supposed to still be alive but they were keeping it alive past it's time just to use it as a weapon and a test subject. So Lauren and Bo were letting it die peacefully by disconnecting it from the vent. But yeah a couple "we shouldn't let them keep it alive this way" lines could have helped

I thought the reason why Bo killed the Snake is because Kenzi was dying from the poison and she had to get the venom, so Lauren could come up with a antidote to save Kenzi and time was running out, so Bo felt the Snake had to die to prevent it from killing anyone else or making them sick. Plus Bo did not care about the Snake, all she cared about was saving Kenzi, it was dying any way being on life support, so putting it out of its misery was the right choice.😁❤🐍👹

I also was wondering about the shoes, high heals, with you running, now that I know your feet were really hurting you, it explains why you were running with caution. I saw that. Also you hurting your knuckle, I went back to that scene and noticed you were protecting your hand. But any way. I loved the Episode.
