A lot of my family come from this area and it is very authentic. There is another series with James Bolam which we all watched at the time - When The Boat Comes In. I can't praise that enough it is funny and moving.

Even the lines of the support actors are outstanding and delivered perfectly by actors well trained in their craft.Bewes and Bolam continue with a script that continues to astound when compared with today’s inferior screen output.

Whoever took the decision to cast Bolam in the role of Terry Collier must have been a perceptive genius. I just can't think of anyone else who could have performed that role the way he did. Every episode a masterpiece of comic acting genius.
