I have a degree in Art History, and I concentrated on the Northern Renaissance. I never get tired of looking at these beautiful pictures and hearing analysis about them. Good job ❤

Thank you, especially for showing the paintings without intruding yourself into the video. I also appreciate that you used punctuation in your speech so that it did not sound like gabbling! I enjoyed your researched commentary. My memory of the Ghent Altarpiece will be with me forever as the custodians had highlighted under a magnifying glass one of the exquisite plants - so beautiful.

Van Eyck expressed so many delicate details in his painting every detail telling a story.

Gorgeous presentation. Thank you! Yep, I subscribed yesterday and it was in my feed today. So happy I found you. This tech surprisingly do help with the details, of course nothing like seeing it in person. Your knowledge and your insights into the details is exquisite.

The technique of alla prima is an Italian method of achieving effects on the first pass...achieving color , value, and the corporeality of the paint body(ie the brush stroke a la the Venetian style) all in the bravura of spontaiety. On the opposite extreme are the eminently methodical masters(Van Eyck,Vander weyden), who painstakingly layered gossamer veils of tinted varnish(ie. Glazing)to procure the desired effect. See more at the VanEyck Illustrated Workshop.

Arnolfini portrait is to honor her after dying in childbirth. Easy way to start seeing it look at carefully her side of the decor is related to death.

They lady at 34 14 is NOT having a baby it is the way they held their dress they were wearing because of the way it is made. look at the symbolic in the painting and the color of her clothes. I watched a guy talk about this and I think he is right, people just say she is with child by the way her clothes are and her hand at a certain spot.

The image on the spoon depicts a dutch/flemish proverb. Als de vos de passie preekt, boer let op je ganzen. It roughly translates as a warning about strong men eulogizing peace and understanding. It has nothing to do with priests.
