It had to happen - I have made a mistake.... Around the 12.50 mark, I say that the S1 and S1J chairs are not interchangeable with those used in plain track where gauge widening has been incorporated.. This is wrong, they are fully interchangeable. Apologies for the mistake and any confusion caused.

Absolutely brilliant. Very well put together. My understanding of Templot is increasing by leaps and bounds along with my admiration of Martin Wynne for his concept and development of this unique work. 👌👍

Hi James, brilliant thank you, just a quick tip, when hiding the timbers, (at 20:00), just click on the 'hide all' button, that's them then all gone in a second!

Dear James, awesome instructional and educational video on transferring the Templot design into a workable 3D file. Definitely helps getting around inside the software. It makes the process much easier to understand and grasp. As well as that it further lowers the threshold of getting into this detailed part of model railroad modeling. Cheerio

Wow ..... that was excellent James, really good presentation, well done. I'm looking forward to the next episode for producing the timber bases using a "low cost" CNC cutter.

Superb presentation… a brilliant step by step approach that gives me the information I need the push forward with a project that had been on the ‘too tricky’ pile for a few years…. And as an FDM printer had been on the cards for other, unrelated, workshop projects the presentation was truly serendipitous 😂🤣😂🤣 Many thanks for taking time to share your experience and experiences

This is just what I need to start my Smallbrook Junction model. I have been thinking about about how to go about this a Templot and printing seems a good way to go. It is great that you are prepared to share all this knowledge Thank You

James. Another fascinating video on this new Templot development. You are a really good at presenting this brilliant innovation in an easy to understand way. I know I am on a steep learning curve on the 3D printing side and I have a great deal to learn. But I have recently purchased a resin printer and today will build a flat packed FDM printer. So, I am looking forward at getting my first sleeper bases and chairs printed. Thank you.

Hi Les, This is great to hear. :) Plug Track does have a bit of a learning curve, all the best things do, but persevere because the results are outstanding. Hopefully it will lead to more track being 'modelled' rather than bought-in. We all have a lot to thank Martin for. Thanks for watching, and your kind comments. All the best, James

When I was on the P-Way we used to call sleepers either side of a joint "Joint Sticks" although by then they were standard 10"

Another fantastic effort James well done. I have already had a go at printing the crossing chairs, but it was not too successful, as the raft was too big for a good build. The way you have used the three copies to firstly split the vee chairs then reposition to shorten the print raft. and join by grouping is a great idea, I will certainly be giving that one a go. cheers Phil.😃
@BexhillWest Жыл бұрын
Cheers Phil, I hope that the video communicates the principle that templates and groups of chairs can be split-up exactly however the user wishes. I did things that particular way in the video, not because it was necessarily the best way to do it, but to show how flexible the tools in Templot are. I'm enjoying learning how it all works myself. :) Thanks for watching, James

Thank you James, totally relevant to my current project! I have received an Alkaid printer and also a Creality Falcon 2 , nearly ready to start building from Templot. Hope to have some experiments ready for our next group meeting! Meanwhile on my way to Birmingham for the Warley show. 😀

HI Ben, I hope you've had a great day. Perhaps we could/should have a Templot session at our next meeting? Can't wait to see your experiments, give me a shout if you need a hand with anything. All the best, James

Hi James, had a great day at Warley thanks! Agree that a Templot session at our next meeting would be great, wondering if we can convince Greg that we should meet at his house so that we could borrow the use of his wifi?(!) I have one question for you for now; what software is the best for laser cutters? I have a 30 day free trial of Lightburn and wondering if it's the best one to use? Cheers from Ben@@BexhillWest

Interesting video - have a couple of questions. Firstly, when splitting the template to fit the printer bed, you showed using the 3D blanking tool to shorten the template from one and, and the length tool to create the second half - is there any particular reason for doing this rather than using either the blanking tool or the length tool for both halves? Secondly, could you equally do both the splitting and the bunching & rafting of chairs in your 3D CAD s/w after creating the initial STL files in Templot?
@BexhillWest Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the questions, both of which are good. :) 1. The reason for using the blanking/length controls is to preserve the geometry of the original template, when adjusting its copy to form the second template. There is a little more to it than that - and I'd suggest having a play/experiment as it is very difficult to explain clearly in words here. It's hard enough on video. :) 2. Yes, you could split/ bunch in 3d CAD outside of Templot, but there is no need. It is always quicker and easier to extract the file straight from Templot. I know because I've tried many times to overthink /overcomplicate the process in CAD and having failed many times I have concluded that organising the files I require straight from Templot is both quicker and easier. Thanks for watching, James

Hi James, Great video! I wonder how well it'd work for my 4-SF curved single slip! Iv'e built it the old fasioned way, it works but isn't perfect, Doesn't help that templot didn't draw it as well as I thought it would have. one question though, how is the height of the rail using these if they were to match up with traditional exactoscale chairing? Does the height match up as I believe it should? Cheers, Michael
@BexhillWest Жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, provided the sleepering is at the same height then all should align perfectly. I've just lasercut some timbering for a double slip, and will be using Exactoscale chairs for the K crossing as these are not yet available in Templot. I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks for watching, James
