The Kattegat coast of Denmark is something quite special. There’s a feeling of calm and plenty of space for activities as well as for relaxing. The calm waters along the east coast mean outstanding beaches and we took full advantage of the fantastic weather.
When you visit north Jutland, a MUST see is Grenen - Denmark's northernmost point and a unique natural phenomenon, where the two seas Skagerak and Kattegat meet
The migrating dune, Råbjerg Mile, is about 1km wide and 1km long, it is made of roughly 3,5 million m3 sand, and is 40 meters high. Each year the dune moves around 15 meters towards the Northeast, closer to Grenen, the top of Denmark.

I'm Danish. Lived in Jutland for wauw may years. Each time I visited Grenen - the tip of Jutland peninsula = tip of mainland Europe!!! - it always looked a little different - because each wave each a tiny piece of Grenen,of Jutland, of Denmark, of Europe mainland. So fascinating to see you visit and experience it too. If you ever come nearby in future - go back to Grenen and experience again the tip of Grenen.

@mnp3713 That is certainly up for debate how you count Thyborøn and the bridges to/from Mors. But you're kind of right. Me, a meager former resident of Viborg. My geo wisdom of Vendsyssel requires refresh. Beklager!

@@rilauats the geologi and formation of the area is actually several Islands that have risen above sea level since last Iceage. In the stone age north of Himmerland was a low sea full of islands. Vendsyssel is one of the few places that still rise above sea every year 2-3 mm most in skagen
@SelvesteSand
@SelvesteSand 15 күн бұрын
@@rilauatsIt's not up for debate that it's an island, but Vendsyssel is only part of the island. The other part is called Thy, and the whole island is called Nørrejyske Ø, or North Jutlandic Island in English. The North Jutlandic Island has always been an island, separated by Limfjorden which is actually a sound and always has been. The water separating the mainland and the island on the west coast right now is a canal, but there were previously natural passages that have been dammed up. Even without the canal, a dam between the mainland and an island is not enough to make said island stop being an island. A bridge much less so. And Mors is a separate island in the middle of the sound, so those bridges are even less relevant, or else, following the same reasoning, Zealand would also not be an island because it's connected to Jutland by bridges to/from Funen.

Next time you could consider visiting the island Falster, it has one of the best beaches near Marielyst, a very popular summer destination. And near Gedser you will find "Sydstenen" ('Southstone') which marks the southest point of both Denmark and Scandinavia.

In some years time the dune will eat up the road to Skagen and finally it will disappear in the Skagerak! It is allowed to move as it likes. But in the many years before, sand from the west covered a large part of the Danish Coast and made it a barren land, before rows of new hedges became planted, stopped the sand, and made it possible to use the land again for agriculture and plantations.

Hi Andre. U flippen answered. How cool is that. Yes, please do a review on radwagon. We live in Boechout Antwerpen. We cycle everywhere. Bakfiets. Maar die boerseun sukkel met die fiets...lol. We basically cycle around 15 000km per year. And a radwagon/ eggrider looks very interesting. Also come say hi when you back in Antwerpen. Good luck with your channel. I like it stukkend!

15000 per year? 🤔😅 that's more than what we drive, and we live in a motorhome 😄 We actually really wanted to go past Antwerp but ran out of time this year. I guess the Bakfiets has it's benefits for cargo and kids - especially in bad weather. The long-tail cargo bike is easier to ride and park though.

That coast is strewn with reminders of a very different time and it's hard to imagine what played out there. When we looked around the bunkers and caves in southern Norway it brought about the reality of how destructive armed conflict can be. The really crazy part is that war is still a reality in Europe - even today

@Mr.Liar "From May 11, 1945, until August 1945 Minenkommando Dänemark cleared 1.402.000 mines. The group lost 149 killed and had 165 seriously injured and 167 slightly injured during the operations. Three of the 52 Danish officers who supervised the group were also injured. Almost all of the German engineers who cleared the minefields were volunteers and the alternative would have been that inexperienced Danish and British personnel should have cleared the minefields instead. Should that have been the case, many more losses would have been experienced, and among them many civilians." "Mine detectors were not that effective as most of the German mines were made of wood, concrete, plastic, or glass." Tried to post link but because it was for outside KZbin the comment got deleted.
