As an iPhone 15 Pro Max user, the Samsung S24 Ultra looks great. I'm just wondering for the AI features it has, is the processing for it done on the phone itself or is it offloaded somewhere ? If it is done on the phone, then that is very impressive. It finally catches up on CPU performance and takes the lead in GPU. Add up everything else and it has to be the top phone so far for 2024. I especially love that Apple is now forced to do something really big for the 16 Pro Max.

Much is on servers and will have a fee come 2025. And so requires an internet connection. Some is on device though. Also the S23U surpassed Apple’s gpu last year even but the CPU still a bit behind especially single core. My 13P gets a similar single core score on Geek6 compared to the one video I watched of the S24U. Also does it have more cores than the A17? If so, that’s a little less impressive that it just barely caught up to Apple’s offering but if they are equal core count then I am happy to see it. Been waiting for a few things to catch up or surpass Apple before I possibly (perhaps it’s probably at this point) go back to Android after many years.

Modern tech is so good that even base model phones are more than sufficient for most people. There is a small niche of people that are going to regularly use the high end features of pro phones. The great thing is that we have options available, which is a win for everyone.

Both phones are great. Just comes down to OS preference I think. Same thing every year though. Once Apple comes out with its next iPhone in September, then it will beat Samsung. Then in this time next year, Samsung will win. It’s a never ending cycle until there’s a new category that we will move onto next. Whether that will a mixed reality headset or not. Im more excited for that than anything.

Phones at this point are mostly just a os and design preference thing, money too obviously and maybe a few other things you could argue like support, repeatability, etc. Either way, you're definitely not missing out on much from one phone to another and an extra 5% or 10% of performance isn't gonna make the whole difference especially when next year's phone is most likely just gonna push past that anyways. That's also besides the fact that probably 90-95% of people don't upgrade their phones more often than 2-4 years or more.

​@Mattism78 Samsung has a desktop type OS mode in their tablets, Their watches are the second most sold smartwatches, Their headphones sound better than Airpods, but ANC sucks. You can connect Samsung devices with Windows and even MacOS now, for the ecosystem features (limited on MacOS ofc). They are privacy focused (as long as you don't use any Google apps or services) and also uses their own in-house security chip, Knox, for security. I think they are almost there!

I’ve been an Android user ever since. I really wanted to switch to iphone to see what it is all about. Nov last year i was finally able to buy an iP15 ProMax. But i dont think iphone is for me. It’s a good phone, runs smoothly. Powerful, great camera. But i think it’s too restrictive. And too limited. There’s very little “Pro” about this phone. Even the native camera app is very simple and limited. You can’t even do scheduled text. Even editing a text message is cumbersome. Forget about multitasking. iPhone is good but its actual usage is very limited compared to Android phones like the S24 series.

I have the 15PM, and i love it, but i also got the S24U a couple of days ago, and i love that one too for different reasons. I've been a long time user of the Notes then onto the Ultras as well as the new iPhone each year. They run pretty much neck and neck for me. No clear winner. I do prefer iOS still. It's still more aesthetically pleasing and better user experience. For content viewing and design, the S24U for sure. Can't go wrong with either one.

The 16P is rumored to have the same 5x as the 16PM, while the only differences are screen (6.3 vs 6.9 inches displays) and battery sizes like before. Apple has been in trouble with the iPhone for a while. I couldn't believe how bad it was when I turned in my S21 Ultra on the 14 PM when it was still running iOS 16. That being said, iOS 17 fixed many problems (primarily the swipe typing and the voice recognition) but the hardware was still not even in the ballpark of the S21 Ultra. I was dumbfounded at how bad the cameras were in comparison, and that was a newer iPhone and an older Samsung. However, I am expecting that the 16 Ultra or PM, whatever they wind up calling it, is going to level the playing field again.

As much as I like the new features in the S24 ultra, it’s hard to switch for me. I keep an Android toy around to play with, currently still using the Z Fold 3. My Z Fold stays in airplane mode most of the time, I charge it once a week, and I only use it in the house. My Apple integration is far too deep, both for personal and business use. I've got a personal iPhone, two business iPhones, MacBook Pro, Mac Studio, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, not to mention the cloud services that bring it all together. So, that's really it...the S24 looks interesting to me, but it's a toy I'm not willing to pay for right now.

@@watpul exactly I have had every Samsung since the S1 and the software on my iPad Pro is 20 times better than android android could literally be three times faster and better in every way but because of that awful software it can’t compete with Apple it’s not android or Samsung fault. It’s just a developers can’t optimize properly for thousands of different devices versus just a handful of iPhones. So this is not an argument and it is not debatable. The optimization on Apple is next level and apps work way better and pretty much everything else works way better. With that said, I still think Samsung slab phones are better just because I don’t really use any apps on my Samsung. I usually use the Camera GPS and stuff like that so I’m not playing games on it/using social media etc

I gave up on apple when I realised I was just buying a marketing scheme with the iPhone. The hardware in the S24U is hands down better than the 15PM.

As an S24 (not Ultra) and an iPhone 15 Pro user, I can say that one area where Samsung still lags is in biometrics. Face unlock is still not good in all lighting conditions and the fingerprint sensor still misses too many times. I turned on proximity unlock and that helps. Overall though it's a really great phone.

I have s23 and iphone 13 mini. Ios is my preference simple for how efficient it is and also its better at security and privacy. These are my priorities.

Audio wise iPhone sounds more muffled while Samsung stereo tuning is off to the roofs.

They don't tell you the new samsung runs on 64bit and a lot of apps will not run and that's important really important to know and noone is saying anything about it

So why only in some videos are some people complaining about the washed out screen on the s24 ultra? I hear no complaints about it with many youtubers not even MKBHD. Is it some of the phones or will it be a software update?

@MaxTechOfficial your read/write speed data is very wrong... my s24 ultra has a sequential read speed of 3979 MB/s and write speed of 3754 MB/s

since the very first smartphone from another company than apple it was already over for apple, and even before that. it was extremely clear how bad the first iphone was but yet iphones are STILL being sold, so apparantly for some strange reason it will never be over for them.

Both are amazing smartphones they have good cameras good screens good battery life and good design overall as a samsung fanboy i prefer the samsung more because of the ai features and android of course

Samsung has done an exceptional job this year. There is little to say today the Galaxy S 24 Ultra is the best smartphone in the world. It is the integration of the Samsung ecosystem is continuously improving.

For the fist time i have really regretted buying the Iphone 15 pro max. The overheating problem not while charging, but especially whilst taking a Video is shameful. I took i 2919 with my Iphone 10 XS Max a long vive video ig my favorite Metalcoreband in SF without the pjhone getting warm at all. I did tge same a few few weeks ago and after 4 minutes of nonstop 4 K recording i had to stop. The phone got so hot that it almost caused burns on my hands. Sadly the Deadline to return is over. Since i’m an an IT and Guitarist i will definitely purchase the S 24 Ultra as soon as i can especially now with the up to 90 seconds Video upload to X. Thank you for your honesty Max

iOS itself needs huge changes to features and abilities, I doubt Apple is gonna offer so many things at once, it just banks on the majority of it's users stay in their "system" no matter what, not based on any logical analysis.

s24 ultra has around 1,440MB/s ssd write speed, not sure how you got 406 mb/s, you made an error.

The SSD write speed test at 6:06 is off. 406 MB/s is on the iPhone, not the S24 Ultra. The graphic is backwards.

My 14 pro max’s power button was messed up. I upgraded to the 15 pro max thinking it was going to be better. It was worse. I took it back to version and the salesman told me that Apple is having a lot of problems. I got my money back. I am getting a Samsung s24 plus. I’m using an older Samsung phone right now.

I hate these reviewers not knowing how display testing works. For the record, peak brightness and typical brightness are very very different. Typical brightness is what you can achieve in auto under the sunlight. Pete brightness is only 1% of the display lit up that the display manufacturers test to try to achieve those impossibly high numbers. Learn the difference!

I'm completely shocked with how false the advertisement around this phone is. I just purchased it and for $1,500 dollars it's an absolutely basic phone. The pictures are extremely pixelated on close inspection. The 10x is incredibly blurry and very different from what is sold to clients on the promotional videos. The macro feature no longer exists. There's no space for an SD card. And more. It's the heaviest phone I've had in my life also. In a world of corporate machiavellism, I absolutely believe samsung put themselves on top of all those "best smartphones" I read carefully for 3 weeks before being this waste of money.

Appears that the wrong disc write speeds displayed vs what shows on the phone. Apple is falling behind..... Their speeds are slower than an old Motorola edge 30 ultra and their random read writes are terrible. So not falling behind already behind 🤷‍♂️

I have the 15 pro max and a Z fold 5. I had the S23 Ultra, and it was my favorite phone, period. Unfortunately, none of my friends use Android, and Imessage wouldn't let me send good photos or videos, which ruined the experience. I love the iPhone and won't consider switching until Imessage fixes its compatibility. IPhone has copied so much from Samsung, and Samsung does shortcuts way better and is way better for media consumption and multitasking. The iPhone and the Apple ecosystem are better for my use case and interaction with my friends, but the Ultra is hands down a better overall phone. I hate to say it, but what's best for a buyer is genuinely preference, but there is no doubt about which phone is better. Samsung's improvements are only good for Apple users. It forces Apple to make significant improvements to their phone that they were forced to make due to constantly evolving competition. The consumer wins.
