I am also a mega fan of Angelina Jordan. I have to admit that there are actually a few songs i don't listen to very often. But as the fan I am, I stumble upon these songs now and then. And the more I listen to them, the better the songs get. As a former EDM, rock and metal fan she has masterfully transformed me to like jazz and slow going music. That is unbelievable, but true in my case. She is truly something special. Greetings from Norway!

I agree with all of these folks but especially the sister, not all songs are home runs, they can't be and don't need to be, also the recording sound is important, better mic's make for much better sound of her voice just like better home equipment can. I hope Angelina makes it big someday and can avoid the falls of so many singers that came before her that never adjusted well to money and fame. I wish her the best.

I am 79 years old, and remember experiencing music from the early days of rock-n-roll. I was a high school sophomore when Elvis came on the scene. And I remember the music my parents listened to--the big bands, the crooners, etc. I was in college during the "flower child" days, and I lived a couple of hours away from San Francisco. So I experience a lot of music from the WWII on. What is so extraordinary about the performances of Angelina was the emotional force of her renditions of music familiar to me. I had never, never before heard anyone, of any age, interpret lyrics so completely with such emotional force. I found myself tearing up to every one of her performances. I could not help myself...and so if that is an "obsession", then so be it. Angelina's voice takes me to places in the heart and soul that I have never imagined possible. Thanks to you, Alan and Pontus, for your discussions--always enjoyable!

Angelina has made a great contribution to the world of music. She has presented old classics to many who had no knowledge of jazz or classics. I am old and lived through those songs. Now the Norse people are jazz fans. Many young Americans are getting a musical education too.
@philgaringer90652 жыл бұрын
I have found that someone's reaction to an initial introduction to Angelina often depends on their personal taste for the particular genre or type of music. If you show her video of "Every Time We Say Goodbye" to someone who doesn't like slow, relaxed, ballads, chances are they are not going to appreciate the performance and artistry as much. They may acknowledge her talent but the song won't move them. And thus, the impact will not be there. Great episode.

IMO if it were only an obsession it would be easier to explain. It would be like the obsession little girls had for the Beatles......or something like that? But Angelina produces an affect that is beyond anything like that and unexplainable. Or the obsession merely has me imagining things??? Or I am just nuts? :) But wait. The Norway's Got Talent Judge said to Angelina, "I am so happy there is a human like you on earth. But this is not human like talent and I can't explain it" That was when she was 8. Now, at 16 with 160 recordings it is entirely reasonable to recognize her as already the greatest of all time. When she is 18, 21, 28 and so on, she will have amassed a global distribution of more pleasure than any musician in the history of humans. It's hard to imagine anyone in the future exceeding such an immense gift to humanity.

It truly is a matter of taste. I absolutely love Bohemian Rhapsody now (and I’ve always liked Queen’s version), but to tell the truth, I was a bit disappointed when I first heard it (I watched it when it debuted on AGT). At the time I had just heard Angelina’s cover of “A Million Years Ago” and was expecting more of her “lower register” singing. I was never a big fan of melismas , but I learned to love them as they were used (always tastefully, and judiciously) by Angelina. Now when I listen to “Bohemian Rhapsody” I ask myself “what was I thinking?!”

I have a friend that thinks Angelina is very talented, but doesn't like the fact that she uses a lot of vibrato & melisma's, he says she is a warbler. He likes straight singing, on the beat with good enunciation. Great pod cast guys, loved it. My intro to Angelina was kinda like Arlene's , as I don't do reaction videos she was not suggested to me, but I was a big Billie Eilish fan, and would look for any videos about her, but while I was browsing you tube I kept seeing Angelina's face popping up, and I never clicked on any because I thought oh she is just a child. Then one night I saw a video of Angelina pop up and it was in black and white, which as a photographer, it intrigued me. I remember I was feeling a bit down that week, and anyway, I thought I have to see what all the fuss was about with this young girl right? The song was Million Miles in studio. I clicked on it and by half way through it I was in Floods of tears!!!! I was hooked! The voice she had was fantastic, the lyrics were sad but hopeful, her emotion while singing was palpable. Second song was, I put a spell on you, from then on it was all Angelina! could not get enough of her singing, photos of her, Anything I could get my hands on lol. I still like Billie Eilish, but Angelina is a whole other level. I have done quiet a few videos of Angelina since then :) There is something real special about Angelina and she hasn't even put her first album out yet!!! Her covers are better than the originals in my opinion. How many times can you say that a cover is better than the original?? not that often! But Angelina not only makes every song her own she more often than not takes the song, and it belongs to her now! Well you know what I mean. :) But great work guys loved it.

Yeah back to black is on the bottom for me, by far, It's a man's world being picked was straight up blasphemy to me, that one is incredible. But it occurred to me that the tone she was talking about was similar in that. So maybe something about that key and tone at that age for her. But for me if it is a similar key, in it's a man's world with all that power and blues, soul, it was incredible. So I don't know. All I know is she is the best singer I've ever heard, changing my tastes, and I'm obsessed really, addicted. To her voice, her story, her artistry, all of it. It's as if you get to see a person with beauty inside, for some reason you are 100% sure of that, get to see her make her dreams come true, and get to experience music at a deeper level, learn about it, and feel it. Feels supernatural, like she understands music, hears it, feels it at a deeper level. As if a siren was a modern artist capable of bringing all that emotional manipulation and subconscious mind control into a more complex artform that should be too busy and complex for it. Sometimes I wonder why I'm there too. Why the person effects it so much, I've had hero's and idols before, in things that felt more important, in things that were more me, and never like that. I wonder if since we all know that's a great kid in there behind those eyes, if her kindness and safety plays a big part. We know we can fall for her, she's safe, we'll be in good hands, we can fall as hard and deeply as we want. There is no block, no caution, just dive right in. Not a chance we read her wrong and she lets us down as a human. I think that is a part of things. Because honestly, the best singer I've ever heard, with the most beautiful voice, the most incredible skill set, her artistry might be my favorite thing even given all that, I don't think all that explains it. The unique opportunity to see this whole journey, and the clear as day beauty inside her, I think that's the barrier breaker. You should have reservations, especially when it comes to a beautiful 16 year old girl, you should try not to be here for many reasons. But none of that matters, it feels entirely irrelevant and fine. I think there is an inherent trust in yourself and in her in this fandom for a lot of us, in intent. You know why you are there, why she's there, and every one goes home happy and at peace. Not only will she very often move you, and very often floor you, but you'll let her. Yeah, you'll be better for it. Music is healing and no doubt this one can heal every bit as much in us as we let her. I assume she has more power in her than anyone else on earth, a human all the same, not an angel, don't ask her to fix the world by herself, but a communicator of a different level and a sweetheart. I hope more people let her in, in those ways. It makes life better. I'm not sure there is a healthier person to fall for, I'm not sure most people get to let themselves fall for anyone like that. I never would have suggested they should.

Another great podcast! Interesting to see how a person is not immediately taken by Angelina's music, especially when it's a family member! Some people just take a little bit longer to convert, if at all. Angelina really isn’t for everyone. She will never fit into the current music industry, because the music industry is like our current governmental system, they are both so full of corruption and greed that they are falling to pieces before our eyes. She will flourish in the new system that comes after our current systems is in ashes. She embodies love and purity, which are not marketable under the current system. People often refer to her ability to evoke emotion. I prefer to think that she touches people’s hearts and teaches them about love. Love is not an emotion; it is a responsibility. Angelina obviously taught Alan and Pontus a lesson in love, look at how much time and effort they spend helping her. Everyone does not understand her lessons in love, take for example her experience in Iran that she wrote about in “Between Two Hearts”. It is not a story about giving shoes to someone less fortunate. It is a lesson in love that Angelina learned about herself, and she honors the girl by not wearing shoes when she performs.
