I like the way you show how you need to clean out the cracks. And how you break up the rock to get to the good stuff. Good luck n thanks a lot.

rick dees Nothing like getting out and testing yourself as a small scale miner. Doesn't hurt to find a little shiny gold either!

SHOULD CHECK OUT MORRIS CREEK, YOU WERE VERY CLOSE TO IT, AND SOME OF THE OLD GOLD MINES ARE UNDER 410!

With all due respect, sir, you’d be surprised what we amateur prospectors would find interesting, I could watch you dig a crevice out all day...we’re watching every little minute detail, lol!!

Bad luck but at least you had a nice day out and some time to yourself.

Yeah - that claim has always kicked my A$$$, but I finally found a little color there last month. Just need to get back there, but haven't had a chance. Just my luck here lately! Thanks for your comment!

cast your nets on the other side was some old advice that i heard once.

heck you need a bucket loader in that old river rock , and work your way into the bed rock where all the gold is laying . is that the dead path of the Naches river or a branch of the old creek that ran into the river .. ?
@dennispetersen11629 жыл бұрын
+Lucky B Neither - that's plain and simple bedrock. I'd need to use dynamite to break that up before a loader would do any good. Need to get back there and do a little more exploring. I only found a very small amount of gold on that piece of bedrock. There's a couple more places to check that I haven't gotten to yet. Snow will be flying up there in another month - so I better hurry!

Dennis I am not just to sure where you are working I am from the east side , of Washington state . Spokane and to the north . people have said their is no gold up on Sherman creek but Gold is where you find it right ,, talking about TNT .. every hear of Pyrodex and debt cord , modern day black powder but it over the counter , and makes a big whole where it is laid back into . not sure what it costs these days . but it will blow stumps I know it will disrupt the ground enough to get to what you need to get at ,, and a 6 ft X 1.24 " round carbon steel bar like an old enclosed drive lineoff a old car from back in the 20's/30's make a good prob bar for breaking that old ground up with river rock still slow going but you need to get in as hurry anyway right .. I didn't realize how much I loved Washington state till I left it been gone almost 20 years ,,

+Lucky B This location is on the Natches River (west of Yakima). All of my explorations are in the Cascade mountains from 1,000 ft to 3,000 ft elevation. I do some mining in the lowlands (couple hundred feet) but not much. I really like the high elevations! Thanks for your comment!

ever spend much time over on the squawk creek around the old Chinese digs and the area where the old King Dredge may still be , their is an old story their was two million dollars in its sluices now this was before the war #1 , and they hit a bench of clay and the clay lifted all that color right out of their in that couple 100 yards .. I know how long them tailing piles are or were , and even since ww1 the way its been worked if people were smart they didn't hot the main pocket .
@dennispetersen11629 жыл бұрын
+Lucky B Yup - I used to have a claim over there (years ago). That area around Liberty is very interesting and a lot of gold is still found out that way. Look up Rob Repin's channel or Corbley, or potato patch, for a view of some nice gold specimens. All that gold is from that area.

Better luck next time. Keep digging!
@dennispetersen11629 жыл бұрын
indyme2 Yeah I'm not done with it yet Indy! The dredgers do pretty well in the river (when they get on the streak). Nothing real big, but some nice pickers. I'm trying to find a spot that hasn't been mined for quite a few years (100+). Dig! Dig! Dig!

This is very discouraging. I live in enumclaw, and have a gold pan coming from Amazon. I was going to check around here and eventually head up 410 towards Rainier...not looking to promising.

@dennispetersen11627 жыл бұрын
If you're near Olympia, you might try Waddell Creek just south at the Millersylvania/LittleRock exit off of I5. It's DNR land and is open year around.
