Nice haul of firewood. Why did you originally girdle it rather than taking it down earlier--guess I missed that part along the way.

Good question. We were under the impression from somewhere that a girdled tree will/could dry out while standing. Also that tree was too close to the oak that we are augmenting. By girdling it we were able to get much more light to our chosen oak tree and understory I had never heard of anyone girdling a tree and leaving it for more than a season so i had to find out! - James
