The interior wood work is simply top notch. I am going to look and see if there is a video that detailed the original interior. I don't remember seeing that.

The website for the rebuild is brilliant, and meticulously detailed.

You know what I'm always drawn to and always like seeing, every time I watch one of your superb videos? Those raised bulwarks and the bronze brackets you made and the fairleads. I've watched your "Gutted Hull to Ultimate Voyaging Boat" video at least half a dozen times already. Your craftsmanship everywhere on Far Reach is exceptional, but those bulwarks are so simple in their practicality and functionality, they're a perfect example of my favourite axiom, "less is more". They're beautiful, and for me one of my favourite things on Far Reach. You're as much a shipwright as you are a sailor.

That's a very generous thing to say Harbor Dog. I appreciate it very much.

Would you consider a video on trip prep? Logistics on how you plan and execute a successful voyage that might cover route planning, weather forecasting, provisioning, spares, etc. I’m sure even the most experienced of us would pick up a few things….

It is very interesting comparing your Cape Dory 36 rebuilt to Atom Voyages Cape Dory 36 Rebuild. It would be amazing if you two could get them side by side someday.

Again another great and informative video, and seeing that you are open to suggestions, I also have one: since you have talked briefly about your health issues underway and how you have successfully managed to successfully negotiate those serious issues. It is obvious that things could have ended much differently. So after confronting reality while underway, your thoughts and reflections on coping strategies would be very informative, and generally, how do you take care of yourself while underway on these long passages. In terms of actually explaining everything about getting out and sailing and cruising, your videos are the best on KZbin. Since I know that making videos takes more time that most people think, I am just glad you keep doing it.

That seems like a good topic. I'll put something together.

Would love to get a good look of Far Reach sailing without the dinghie on the deck. Just to admire the lines and cabin roof as it sails. Maybe one time if you can get a drone shot of it sailing without it, would be something.. Just to reveal the full beauty of it as it sails past. (not sure what to do with the dinghie as you do that though? Tow it or something??)

I ve watched many of your videos and read some of your blog. It’s a great series. Thanks for doing them. Like you I prefer a simple seaworthy boat, for solo sailing I prefer my Alberg35 over my island Packet 35 Thanks for all you do.

Very nice. I have made similar trips in my first cruising boat. The Alberg 35 older sister ship that yours was born from. The CD is an improvement on the A 35 with somewhat longer waterline and more beam. The A35 was only 9’4” beam. And lower freeboard ( if you can believe that. )

Hi Fred. The A35 and 37 are beautiful boats. Long and lean. I have seen a couple of them beautifully restored.

I have a similar love affair with my Bavaria 34 cruiser. I keep "Nossa" in Grenada during the off season. I singlehand the islands during the winter months. I will be in St. Croix for 2024 Xmas. My second season starts November 12.

@12:04 is that staining on the toe rail from the bronze used to hold the toe rail? Is that possible? I thought Bronze would not do that??
@FarReachVoyages Жыл бұрын
That is leather residue from the leathered preventer-vang caused by it rubbing on the toe rail. Wipes right off. I actually explained that in the raw video but edited out as I thought viewers would not notice or wouldn't care. Shows how much I know!
