One suggestion for improvement: I would have *wrapped the skateboard griptape around the aluminium cover* instead of just cutting off the excess width. Looks cleaner (blacked out theme!), protects the edges from scratching, prevents the griptape from peeling off.
@zro68285 жыл бұрын
Plus would probably help add to the waterproofing. It's the little details.. only thing is you then wouldn't have access to anything in the compartment without cutting & replacing the grip tape.
@misatzu5 жыл бұрын
@@zro6828 What I actually meant was wrapping the griptape all around the cover alone while it is still unassembled @8:24 and mounting the whole thing to the compartment then ;) In case one would be worried about waterproofing this way, just a little bit of silicone put on the contact surfaces would surely solve that issue.

I converted a Razor Scooter back in 1996, and I still have it. I built up the Footboard for battery storage. A Computer Fan cooled the electronics when turned-on. I also used the Trigger Mechanism from a variable-speed Battery Drill for the Throttle Control. This throttle was mounted on The Footboard, and operated with the front part of the foot. I always wanted to "fly" through a Speed Camera with it, exceeding the speed limit, but it became scary to ride at 20kM/h! It only had a very poor rear brake. How things have changed since 1996, with much-improved components and batteries. Nice build, Greetings from Australia.

@tubeufvalentin3655 жыл бұрын
7Ah/50V battery, and the motor rated power is 350W. So at rated speed you reach 7A (350W = 50V * 7A). If your battery is fully charged you should ride for 1 hour at rated speed. What is the rated speed.. i Don't know.
@caseyb13464 жыл бұрын
It looked like it tops out around 31km per hour, which is 19 miles per hour. So about 19 miles...theoretically. That lines up roughly with a basic maxim for any electric vehicle with a fairly upright stance. That is below 20 mph, watt hours per mile is less then the mph number. At 20 it breaks even and beyond 20 mph whpm will be higher then mph. Theoretically. So 19mph sustained speed uses roughly 18.5 whpm. 350/18.5 = 18.9, or 19 miles range. Bingo. Its as true on a mountain bike as on a scooter. However... ALL of that is assuming you never stop once the whole ride. Every time you stop and have to re-accelerate, that costs significant amounts of energy. Also, there are losses to hysteresis. Also, a batteries rated capacity is not its true capacity. The more load you put on the battery, known as the "C rate", the less total energy you will be able to pull out for that charge cycle. In the case of this scooter, the motor is rated for 350w continuous and 750w maximum and I assume 48v standard batteries. That means it draws 7.3 and 15 amps respectively. 7.3 amps out of a 7ah battery is a C rate of 1, which is ok. 15 amps draw out of a 7ah battery is a C rate of 2 which may reduce its effective capacity some. ALSO Electric motors are much less efficient at speeds near 0. Sooo not only does accelerating use more energy due to physics, it also requires running the motor at speeds where it is less efficient AND stresses the batteries with this particular setup, reducing effective capacity. So if you are riding this in the city, and just hopping on it and letting the motor do all the work....less then 10 miles range. If you put in some effort and kick off really hard to get some speed on the scooter before you engage the motor....14-15 miles range. Hope that answers your question :)
@xpndblhero51705 жыл бұрын
That's actually pretty cool..... I'd be a little more aggressive w/ the power if I built one but I like it. Very simple platform and mods w/ nothing being too hard... I would have preferred you to use steel dropouts cause aluminum can deform w/ high torque motors. You either got ridiculously lucky or you put ALOT of thought into this... I'm gonna go w/ the latter.
