​@@cariko i'm not telling them about their own country, i'm telling them how words work in the English language. nationality has no essential basis in ethnicity and culture - at least, going by the modern standard. what was considered "nationalism" when the concept first arose is now specified as "ethnonationalism," because the concept of nation vs ethnic group has split. without this separation of the concepts of nation and ethno-cultural group, then things like chinese-americans, zainichi, and british-indians would be impossible to understand. to illustrate: chinese-americans are purely american in terms of national identity, but american AND chinese in ethno-cultural terms and u're right about the whole culture vulture thing - this shit, at least the way it's marketed, would not fly in the west. still, nice music.
