Excellent video. I've watched your other videos and I really appreciate your method of teaching. I realize this channel focuses on structures and strength of materials, but I was wondering if You were planning on making some videos on differential and integral calculus? A firm base in mathematics is required to be able to understand, but unfortunately in schools Calculus is taught non-intuitively, to solve through plugging-and-chugging. I wish You'd apply your talent even beyond your structural videos, which are once again amazing. Cheers

Thanks for the note. You are absolutely right, in our schools, (engineering) mathematics is often taught in a non-intuitive way which makes its comprehension, beyond memorization, a challenge. Introducing math lectures into our library in an integrated manner poses a few challenges, but we will continue to explore ways to make it a reality.

The reaction solutions at 6:13 do not seem to satisfy moment about A = 0, as -200*5 + 106.75*10 - 33.75*18 = -540?
@DrStructure4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing out the typo. The vertical reaction at B is the sum of two numbers: 127 + 33.75 = 160.75, NOT 106.75.

@@DrStructure Thanks. So the answers are RA = 127 up, RB = 160.75 up, RC = 33.75 down (kN)? Their sum do not exactly counter the 200 from UDL...

The error in the results originates from the previous screen. @5:55, the calculated shear values are correct. But notice that, at the bottom of the screen, Vba and Vab are swapped. The shear at A is written as 127, it should have been 73. And the shear at B should be written as 127, not 73. That is why we ended up with incorrect support reactions. The correct reactions are: Ra= 73 (up), Rb = 160.75 (up) and Rc = 33.75 (down).

The 3D model of the bridge was done using SketchUp. The 3D avatar was created and animated using Reallusion software products. The lecture notes were generated and animated using Adobe Illustrator. Audio/video synchronization, and final video production was done using Camtasia Studio.
