Looking back an entire year, this gun has changed a lot. I’m pretty sure it was buffed significantly twice. Once in the heavy assault rifle buff when the AK47, SCAR 17, Oden (and SA87) got a decent reduction in ADS time, and again on its own to reduce the recoil. In its current state it is an extremely underrated rifle, especially in warzone because the damage and range are just that bit better than the assault rifles. The recoil now is also pretty much non existent too. To anyone reading this comment, I’d recommend using this gun with the monolithic suppressor, longest barrel, commando foregrip (recoil stabilisation helps with the kick of heavy assault rifles), 50 round mag because the fire rate is slow enough that you can get away with not taking 60, and, last but not least, sleight of hand. I use this gun extensively for warzone, usually paired with a HDR. I’ve rambled long enough, but quick tip: if you don’t want to use sleight of hand, use a blue dot or a monocle reflex sight.

Idk if I'd necessarily buff the mag capacity, but if it had better handling and reload times and maybe a buff to fire rate (the actual SA-80 is generally set up to fire closer to 700-750 rpm) it would be significantly more viable

It uses 30-round STANAG mags by default, which hold 30, so that's not changing. All it really needs is an ADS time buff, that's the big thing that kills it.

Love it my favorite gun surprised so many people hate it. Absolutely shreds with minimal recoil. I feel like assault rifle you have to empty half clips into people but with this you can accurately pick off 3-4 people in mid range and ne competitive with snipers with an acog scope

Yeah I've been using it recently and it sucked at first with no attachments, but with ads attachments it's not too bad at all. Still slow, but if you account for the slower ads you can shred people with consistency. I think it should have a 2 shot ttk up close with headshot. The gun as a whole just feels consistent, but unremarkable when up against an MP5 or Grau.

I enjoy the SA once I leveled it up, but yeah, even at its best, it's a bad AR and an average LMG. Sort of has the worst of both classes. But, I did find a setup that makes me enjoy it: Lightweight Suppressor 12.4" Factory barrel GI Mini Reflex/Corp Combat Holo Sight Merc Foregrip Stippled Pistol Grip This setup I find makes it most usable for CQB by strengthening its ADS speed. Lightweight Suppressor and 12.4" barrel will really cut back on your range, but I find its worth it for the ADS speed. Sometimes I'll take off the Merc Foregrip or Stippled Pistol Grip to slap on the FORGE TAC CQB Comb to further help ADS speed. I like the Merc Foregrip for the recoil control and for the hip fire. Due its already solid hip fire, Merc Foregrip makes it really good at hipfiring and more reliable in CQB so you don't have to deal with its ADS speed. I mainly play Ground War, but when I play a CQB 6v6 map or something, I'll take off my sight instead for the Stock to just maximize the ADS potential.

Same -- I hated this gun at first, but slowly started to love it once I could get the ADS speed down. I like it with a sniper scope, short barrel, an ADS attachment, FMJ, and 60 rounds. It becomes this weird, wall-banging spraying sniper rifle that's surprisingly fun to use at every distance.

i love the SA now that i'm in the 40s with it and actually have some ADS attachments for it (12.4 barrel and Stippled feels real snappy) but it's still sluggish elsewhere and there's not really much i can do about it. even with the strafe speed stock, it's STILL just a little too slow, and if I put Sleight of Hand on, it reloads okay but then burns through ammo surprisingly fast, so i'm stuck either taking 50/60 round mags or running Fully Loaded with small 30 round mags, which isn't great either i've found that, for an all around decent class, Compensator, 12.4 Factory, 50 round mags, Stippled grip, and Ultralight Hollow feels the best. it improves a lot of, if not most of, the downsides you get from a base SA87.

@@butteredbread100 If you wanna have any success being even slightly aggressive, you're gonna have to cut down on its range by reducing ADS speed. Its painfully slow ADS speed isn't worth its 3 shot kill range. You can run something else over the Lightweight such as a Compensator or Monolithic, but I I'd rather reduce my range with the Lightweight than increase it my ADS speed with the Monolithic, and I don't feel the Compensator is necessary. Could always run a Stock to improve your ADS speed or strafe speed instead of a muzzle.

@@SeaGLGaming This gun is not built for aggression, it's entire ethos is dominating at range, that's where it's 3-hit-kill range allows it to out TTK weapons that it would otherwise get dominated by. If I want an aggressive 3-hit-kill gun then the AK is better in basically every way. This gun is for locking down lanes and hosing people at range. I run no barrel (stock barrel is good enough for 6v6). Instead, I use operator grip, 60 round mags, strafe speed stock, cronen pro optic, and stippled grip tape.

I just got mine gold/platinum yesterday. My go to setup for HC was tac laser, 50rd mag, shortest barrel, SOH, and then whatever optic. It was still very very clunky and slow but if multiple enemies popped out on you, you could just mow them down. I found sometimes the slow fire rate got me killed, but most times it was alright.

The Holger, SA87 should have buffed base ADS and lowered lowest possible ADS. The Holger should receive a very small upper chest multiplier that can allow it to 3 shot kill to the chest at closer ranges, seeing as the PKM can 2 shot with the same firerate.

i think this is an underrated gun. I absolutely love this gun as a long range ground war hybrid ar/lmg. With recoil control attachments this thing hardly moves at all. I run the compensator, 25.4 barrel, commando foregrip, rubberized grip, and solozero optic. i don’t have an issue with the ads time at all with a play style centered around holding down overview spots for B,C,D flags.

I really wanted to love this gun. I play hardcore and it has shined at times, but no matter how I kit this weapon there are many much better options. CQC or Long range. Doesn’t matter. There are so many other weapons that just shred this weapon. I think a buff to ads time and a reduction to recoil are what this needs. It’s 5.56 ammo. It shouldn’t kick that much. I like variety so I do find myself coming back to this lmg quite a bit, but then I remember why I stopped trying to use it.

Longer barrels *slightly* increase 1 shot kill ranges, but I haven't noticed any spread reduction or increase when ads. The 1Mw and 5mw lasers help hip fire spread pretty decently unless they nerfed it since I stopped using it

My 1st gold lmg, highly underated. most defo wanna treat it like a AR, but use it more like a fal. switch the gun to semi auto fire mode, use a 3x scope. in semi auto you will not burn ammo so fast, so swap ammo slot for a better attachment.

Actually enjoyed using this weapon and did pretty well with it. However , I only had success using a camping setup that reduces speed, maintains distance and is loaded with attachments that reduce recoil. When I was running and gunning , I would get outgunned most of the time.

IRL the British troops I’ve worked with carry this as their “every soldier” weapon and it IS classified as an Assault/Service Rifle. Even the sentries outside (and inside probably) of the palaces carry them equipped with a Bayonet...And they are crazy heavy compared to an M16A2. Edit: forgot to mention it’s as heavy as a stripped (light weight buttstock and short barrel and a few other changes) M249 SAW... or it at least seemed like it was.

I think it’s actually more accurate to think of the SA87 as a marksman/lmg hybrid. Range and reliable torso multipliers is clearly its thing and a slower than expected ads speed makes more sense you think of it as a hybrid between those two.

the gun shoots mostly fine in real life, similar to other 5.56 rifles of the era. it's just the overall construction and reliability which is bad, the reason this gun is bad is it's shoehorned into the LMG class and has unrealistically bad reload time and handling. it should handle similar to any larger assault rifle like an AK or the tar21. the only way to make the gun as bad as it is in real life is to have a jamming system which doesnt fit in COD at all.

I’ve actually grown to like this weapon. I’ve been using it a lot as a full auto dmr, switching between tap firing and full auto and enjoying it as a slow methodical weapon. Basically an lmg that can reposition itself more often, or a ebr that can go full auto in panic situations. It has such good range.

Along with speeding up the ADS, the recoil needs a fix. Even in semi, it still has crazy muzzle climb, while the other MGs with a selector can dump magazines and get a group that looks it was made by a sniper rifle.

I like this set-up on medium-range engagements. Merc Grip Compensator 25.4" Barrel Granulated Grip Sniper Scope You have a lot of control, the shots are consistent. Post on cover, and you have nearly a 4 shot laser. Alternatively, I like to convert it to the LA87 variant by attaching all the attachments that help with ADS.It's comparable to the AR's, really only is nostalgic for like MW feels.

Not to take merit away from your video Ace, but maybe this one is worth a revisit. I was leveling this gun yesterday as I left it at lvl 4 back then because it sucked so bad, and it's SO not the same gun than post-buff. I was shredding with it when I remember not being able to even aim on time!

Yea its actually really good. Its basically an ar with slightly slower ads and fire rate but really good recoil, damage and range.

I'd used the SA87 mostly to be different in the first few weeks of the games' launch. I actually kind of like it now lol but I wouldn't say it's the best at anything in particular. An increase to ADS and maybe even movement would put it in a good place.

I agree that should have the best ADS and handling of the LMG category (probably tied with the Holger, since it's another AR conversion). I might argue that the base magazine should be a little larger, as well.

While the gun may be awful in real life doesn't mean they should have it as the worst gun in the game. A nice buff would be a increase to its ads would be great as all my attachments go towards improving that.

This should've just been the L85A2 or A3, stick it in the AR list, buff the shit outta the mobility, give it more underbarrels and for nostalgia, a SUSAT scope. And when you put the bipod on, an extra foregrip should appear behind the magazine, like a true LSW

How much or less of an increase to range do you get with extended barrels compared to monolithic suppressors though? They are a better attachment overall I feel like vs the mono yet they are never mentioned in your videos?

I use this all the time and often have a big advantage to ar's in warzone, mainley in plunder. i have it set up with a low recoil and high range so i really think it is good

I love the SA80 style rifles so i'm a bit annoyed it sucks so much in the game, i'm not sure what they should do, convert it to the Assault Rifle class? Make the attachments to make it faster more effective? A unique attachment for the bolt that makes it fire faster but reduce damage range? Whatever they do they should definitely start with ADS speed.

Pretty sure its based off an L86-LSW (light support weapon) which is a heavy barreled version of the l85 that increases range is designed to mainly be used in fully automatic than in semi automatic that most rifleman use, making it a hybrid of an assault rifle and an lmg but its a pretty weird gun in this game

The problem is if you want an LMG like this you can pick either the SA87 or the G36, and the G36 is just more adaptable to different situations and play styles.

I don’t know if it is still there but when I went for gold on this gun. Increasing hip fire and going prone is what makes this gun good. The reticle would tighten to about the size of an mp7 hip fire build.

The ttk range is like really good, even with the short barrel. Don't really see how you think it's bad when you can remove a good chunk of the ADS time and not have any relevant downsides.

They too the L85A2 Assault Rifle and coded it as an LMG. There is an LMG variant of the L85 however the version we get as and LMG is only a standard assault rifle! You literally have to use your attachment slots to make it into the LMG. Its like they tried to make this a bad weapon.

I jus started playing with this gun again since the game came out, i still hav to finish leveling up. But i tell u this, its a beast on hardcore. A 1 hitter quitter at every range, an pretty accurate shootn from the hip. Im starting to like this better than the oden cuz of the faster firing rate.

Everyone sleeps on this lmg. It has more mobility than a typical lmg, and has the penetration of an lmg. Put a compensator, 12 inch barrel, 50 round mag, stippled grib, and anything else you might want. I highly suggest you run Specialist on the class you use.
