Man you are a lifesaver! Just pulled into the garage and shut off the engine after putting the vehicle in park and the door was locked- hmm - must not be in park! But the gear selector was but the dash said neutral. This is so helpful- thank you!

ACK! Got the Dorman brand part at Advantage Auto Parts and it doesn't come with the little puller but doubt it would help. This part won't squeeze into the cable end. It just won't. I soaked in hot water like bushingfix says, nada.

@!Saab Ross what happens if my shift is stuck on reverse? (R) in LED in DASH and will roll backward w out emer-brake?

If the transmission is still in gear, then the cable is still attached, and therefore, unfortunately, this is not the repair for you...

Or, if the cable is truly disconnected, crawl under there and pop that trans lever into whatever position you want
