When I was in college, one of our professors had this wagon and I fell in love with it right there and then. Every time I went to our department I'd stare at this beauty in the parking lot. I love those wheels a LOT! Unfortunately, due to the rarity of this car in the US, I've never seen one on the road ever since. Now I can afford it but it's forbiddingly rare to hunt one down.

Ride quality with hirsch kit? Smoother ride than standard? That is one thing I would love to improve...to make the drive not so crashy over small imperfections in the road...
@TechCars5 жыл бұрын
Road handling is improved with the hirsch chassi upgrade. Smoother? No I'm afraid not. It was bumpy with the original and it's still bumpy. My previous tires were 225/40/19. I went back to the original size which is 235/40/19 and that did help.. But no, can't really say it's smooth :-( Then you should go for the aftermarket kit with regular dampers/springs with spacers. www.esaabparts.com/getpn.php?id=93001201

@TechCars4 жыл бұрын
Hej.

What’s the name of the kit u bought for suspension and all that stuff? My saab is having some issue with the suspension and at this point I have to change them all so it wouldn’t be bad to buy this one (she’s basically undrivible in the road as it this right now, it tends to oversteer randomly when u take a corner a little too fast, i think that the suspension are just gone and that’s why it behave like this)

My current Saab is a 2004 9-5 wagon, which I bought in 2008 with 83K miles. It now has 165K miles. Perhaps you should mention how much you've driven it in the last 5 years... 5000 miles? I remember when I drove "Beppe" to northen Sweden. With original chassis, it was just a constant pain due to the roads up north. Don't even wanna think about driving there with that new chassis. You'd need a kidney belt for sure.
@TechCars5 жыл бұрын
It's true that it's not the daily beater. I think I have put around 18300 miles on it. I changed the tire dimensions back to 235/40/19. They were 225/40/19 when you drove it I think. The added rubber actually helped just a tiny bit of increasing the comfort. I have to agree though.. I feel everything in the road and I mean everything. You can feel just how bad they are. We need better roads so that everybody can enjoy a great chassis? :-D

2.8T V6 was the best thing that happened to Saab and the introduction of Haldex, another Swedish company. Being allowed to raid the Holden parts bin and tune a naturally aspirated V6 into this beast is a marvel in its own right at 276bhp & 400nm all done in-house at Saab. 420bhp has been seen with stock internals with a ridiculous torque figure in excess of 600nm.. I had a LS2 in my previous car (ironically a Holden HSV) and pound for pound the Saab pisses all over it's 6.0 V8, although I will concede, not for pure sound unfortunately, still sounds good but nowhere near as good as an "Aussie" V8...(technically it's American) but I'll let them have it. Anyway, I don't know why people turn their noses up at these. I've had drivers with BMW 340i/335i/D variants wind their windows down asking me wtf it is or thumbs up as they eventually pull alongside, even had a C63 at the lights in dampish conditions up to 70mph. When I tell them they're astounded, mine is completely stock too. So before mocking you should try it, best car I've ever owned but also my most expensive to maintain! £4k in 2 years is taking the piss, I see people moaning about spending £1k on an M3, pussies! £££££ 😆💪 I hope you've not died after I've taken time to write this... 😂
