In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 1981 Cadillac Seville with the 6.0L Fuel Injected V8. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

That car brings back a lot of memories. I was 16 and my boss at the grocery store bought a brand new one. The car was controversial due to its bold trunk design, a lot of people could not understand why Cadillac so radically changed the once clean and popular lines of the previous Seville. Looking back, it appears GM made a blunder though, sales for the model dropped dramatically. But, I too love this car, would really enjoy owning this one, I would be polishing it a lot and just cruising down the road on Sundays. Thanks for a great video Kyle, I love your channel and how it has evolved over the years, keep doing what has made you successful.

+smacdiesel I too always wanted one of these Seville's ever since I was a little boy. Cadillac came out with this Seville to bring back the appearance of the Classic Rolls Royce body style which looks very much like them. Some of the older 1930s Cadillac La Salle had a similar look as well. it was nothing new just that they brought back a classic body style. I own a 1984 Seville in cotillion white and blue button tufted leather interior and I love it very much.

I love that car we purchased an 85 Seville that didn't run and was old and really beat up and worn but I wanted to keep it and restore it. Since it didn't run I just use to sit in it and relax. Sitting in the car was very comfortable. I kinda made that my alone time space because it made me happy. My father told me that he was going to get rid of the car and told me to pull as much good parts as I can. I pulled off the information center, the dash cluster and all of its buttons and knobs, the dashboard faceplates and vents, the stock radio, the opera lights in the back seat, the main dome light, the steering wheel horn pad and some of its decal emblems that fell off. Sadly my father got rid of the car. The tow truck came and took it away to somewhere that I will never know. I will deeply miss my seville.

My Dad bought this car when it came out. It was the first car I played "Look I'm driving" in. Thanks for showing all the internal features. It's still seems like a giant toy. I'm was always amazed by the tiny handle on the inside of the door and the super posh power seating. This car was more entertaining than my Atari 2600. This was also the car where I learned to appreciate music greats like Roberta Flack and George Jones.^^

No your right, very few as it is. But the one car that is a great ride for a modern day car is the Cadillac Deville/DTS cars from 2000-2011. I have a 05 Deville and my parents have a 07 DTS and a 94 Seville as our daily drivers. Reading my posting here, I have since sold off both my 81 Deville and 85 Eldorado Biarritz but still have the 84 Seville. Currently not driving the 84 Seville because of engine problems and needing an engine swap badly.

Rene Schulz Just so you know, this Seville is not plastic except for the bumper fillers. Also its styling of the trunk and roof line is from the late 30's Cadillac LaSalle and also from the Rolls Royce of the same years. The two tone colors was also meant to mimick the Rolls Royce look as well. I realize it is not for everyone which is fine, but it is distinctly Cadillac and is of very good quality when cared for properly.

I remember when this car came out like yesterday. Being young I liked it, a lot of dark blues in that model too. But the older men did not like it as a rule. I remember these cars from back then. Controversial or not, the rear end styling was distinctive. By this time, import cars had taken a big chunk of domestic car sales in America, which I'm sure had an impact on Seville sales. The interior looks quite nice, but perhaps this car's biggest flaw is the engine. For 1981, Cadillac offered the fuel injection setup seen here: the V8-6-4 fuel injection. You can clearly see the badge on the side that says that. This was revolutionary for its day, as it deactivated cylinders that weren't needed depending on demand and load, but apparently it didn't work very well. The early eighties computers of the time were inadequate for this task. Performance suffered, customers were unhappy and many of these cars were frequently taken back to the dealer with drivability problems. Even with all of these headaches, the system only returned an average of 1 MPG better than a standard setup. This system was scrapped after 1981, and GM wouldn't try this again until the 2000s (with much better results).
@cadillacguy1890
@cadillacguy1890 2 жыл бұрын
True. It’s quite unfortunate too, because the 6 liter V-8 (368) was an extremely reliable, strong performing powertrain. The owner could have the lead to the solenoid controller unplugged and the car would operate in the 8 cylinder mode only, but there would always be an annoying “check engine” light illuminated on the dash board, and in many areas, the car would not pass an emissions inspection with the light illuminated.

Liberal elite agenda? If you want to attack a group of people..don't attack the group that cares about the poor, helps to feed them, and is trying to keep the middle class from falling into poverty. This is when Cadillac used their creativity and made imaginative cars, yes the V8-6-4 might not have worked all that well given the limited computer capabilities of the day, but it was very advanced stuff back then and atleast they thought about the environment and were one of the first to try something different, you see that kinda stuff in todays V8s, then again they're much better running and the electronics and programming are much more sophisticated so it obviously works a lot better today, still love the shape of this car though, and I'm not even from the US. Caddy's came with soo much standard kit, then again they were the most expensive but they were just that much better equipped than BMW, Jaguar, Rolls and Mercedes-Benz, as for the subject of whether they were built as well as the germans we could argue about certainly but I still have plenty of admiration for what America could do at that time, they kept up with the best of them for the most part, what they lacked in sophisticated underpinnings they made up for in comfort and luxury conveniences.

The engine size is 6.0 Liters (368 cubic inches). It is the V8-6-4 engine, you can tell by the blue engine covers on each side. If the V8-6-4 modular displacement malfunctions, you can disconnect it and just drive the car in V8 mode all the time. The 4.1L V8 did not come out until 1982 in Cadillacs. Both engines had their flaws, but sometimes, especially if you maintain them well, they could prove their worth and run well and reliably.

@talldude123 Did the 1982 Cadillac Seville use the same scary key in ignition buzzer or just a chime instead?
