I think there's a reason why many people including me find this version more beautiful than original. In the original the picturization of the song is depicting a playful romance between actors on the beach. The music betrays the mood of the lyrics massively. A song and a melody like this is more suited for a melancholy and nostalgia that is evoked in our hearts when we find ourselves humbled by the infinitude of ocean, yearning for the beloved that is, was or never was. sd burman composed thandi hawayein sung by lata didi, that tune was very much liked by roshan lal that he took permission from sd burman so that he could use similar tune in his composition. after sd burman nodded positively, roshan lal came up with rahein na rahein hum mehka karengey. and finally rd burman also couldnt resist the soothing melody and came up with similar tune - sagar kinare.
