I understand her anger and frustration that he never liked her like she wanted and only married her when family said.. Also the guilt in her of sister death.. It's also not his fault that he never liked her that way.. It's worse to see that the person you like falls for your sister or friend and not you heartbreaking moment but helpless... Also understandable when she wishing bad for her sister ..to die was a bit too much.. she her sister came suddenly started staying and then got involved with the person he was waiting to marry.. Beautifully portrayed..

I've read the book and in it irtiza admitted that he loved Saman because of her qualities but loved Saba because she was Saba He also said to Saba "agar mera saman k saath dil ka rishta tha tou tumhare saath mera rooh ka rishta hai" He also said "I've loved you since I was 7 and have always wanted you to be loved by everyone else the way I loved you" "Meri tumhare liye muhabbat aisi thi jisme na paalene ki khwahish thi na khodene ka malal" ( paraphrased a bit) Take from it what you will as i still didn't get what kind of love he had for her... He did say some of these dialogues in the show too...

Irtiza loved saba but it was so constant that it was like a habit ,and slowly he became unaware like people become unaware of breathing.then Saman came ,He saw her in that romantic light. He may have never explored his love for Saba because he saw her as a friend. But then when Saba became his wife ,but with all the rudeness which he was not accustomed to,he started to wonder what went wrong. And in that quest he realised how much he loved saba but was unaware. He must have wondered how he could like or love saba romantically when he himself chose saman over her, even loved Saman. That put him with the realization that how saba was constantly in his thoughts,how her mood influenced his. That's why he said the connection with Saba was soul consuming, like a soulmate.
