Thanks for letting the end credits roll, dude! Give credit for all the trench builders. Symbolic blowing up of the piano. No more truce after that Christmas. This will be the next #1 Christmas song from now!

No one teaches history better than Sabaton. The raw human experience of those who went through great events are always conveyed in their works. Here in the middle of insanity men found their humanity at least for a little while. The song salutes the Holiday season but also is a tribute to the fallen in every war and 11/11 is upon us. A time as a vet that I recall fallen buddies who are at rest now but never made it home for any future holidays. May they rest in their peace while the rest of us continue the insanity while we search for out humanity. Beautiful and powerful video as always and a great song with lines that will roll around in your head for the weeks to come. Sadly there was never another truce as the Generals made sure of it and the War carried on for another 4 long years.

@@sacjuggalo Nightwish is a great band to check out. They're a Finnish band with a Dutch singer, Floor Jansen. You heard her in the ending credits of this Sabaton video (she's married to Sabaton's drummer). She has one of the best female voices in metal today. Nightwish is very diverse, none of their songs are alike. There are epic and melodic songs, but they can also go really heavy on you and the next song could be very celtic sounding or even jazzy. Their music is exceptionally well composed and arranged. The lyrics are very powerful and poetic, which leads to great storytelling. Nightwish is best appreciated LIVE. As was mentioned before, the video of 'Ghost Love Score', live at Wacken 2013, is a great one to start with. It was recorded live in front of 82 000 people. Here's the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIrNep9-jKd0jNE Greetings from the Netherlands.

The truce happened in different pockets (some big some small) all up and down the western front. Fun fact I do know of at least one actual organized soccer game between the German and (I believe) British troops that ended with the Germans winning 2-1.

Hey bro! I've got a couple of bands for you to check out, if you already haven't: 1. Unleash the Archers. They are a power metal band from Canada that is also award-winning, in that they won a Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) for Abyss, their album from 2020. Here are my Top 5 tracks from Unleash the Archers: 1) Abyss 2) Tonight We Ride 3) The Wind That Shapes The Land 4) Soulbound 5) Awakening 2. Amaranthe. They are a band from Sweden, like Sabaton. They have an eclectic mix of styles, and have three singers. Here are my Top 5 tracks from Amaranthe: 1) Digital World 2) BOOM! 3) 82nd All the Way (cover of Sabaton's song by the same name) 4) GG6 5) Viral And, more Sabaton tracks to check out: 1) Night Witches 2) When No Bullets Fly 3) Defense of Moscow 4) Bismarck 5) 40:1 (Live at Woodstock 2012)

My understanding; the Napoleonic wars had shattered the Holy Roman Empire. Otto Von Bismarck's new German nation was on a roll, but as he predicted, almost to the day, some damn fool thing in the Balkans will kick off in 20 years. Archduke shot, war starts, nobody really realized how epic it would get. So first Christmas you still had a large population that were open to "This is insane. Can we take a time out?"

And they expected the war to be over by Christmas 1914 with either Berlin falling or Paris falling. But little did they know that a few dispositined troops by the Germans would create this stalemate between both sides and all they could do is dig and dig and dig.

Great Reaction, for more on this topic there is a decent movie (2005) "Joyeux Noel" (Merry Christmas) shows the German, French & British (well a Scottish unit) , sadly when word of these events got out many units were punished and relocated to other sections of the line were the fighting was more savage. and then they made sure on holidays they would launch attacks and such. but the war took a turn and got more deadly esp once GAS started to be used in 1915 some soldier tried to repeat the event of 1914 but were shot .
