Fun fact: The Yamato-classes in this anime are all pre-retrofit Yamato-classes. You can tell because they still have those secondaries on the sides of the ships. In real life, these secondaries were removed in favour of more AA guns. In the anime, I can understand why they're pre-retrofit. This anime universe has no heavier than air aviation, in other words their aviation is airships and (somehow) rocket technology. They skipped an entire development phase. Also in this universe, the Shinano got completed as a battleship (because aircraft aren't a thing apparently so no Yamato-class aircraft carriers) and the other 2 planned Yamato-classes (there were supposed to be 5) were completed.

Also, one thing I still find extremely funny is that to lower the manpower (or in this case woman power) needed, all the primary and secondary batteries have been fitted with autoloaders. Can you imagine how terrifying an autoloaded 18.1-inch gun must be. Also, the turret rotations speed has obviously been boosted.

...This little destroyer battling battleships is reminding me of Polish one from WW2 era, Piorun. Basically Polish ignoring orders, breaking out of formation, and pursuing Bismarck. On one destroyer. Then they were shoting everything they got, including AA weapons, or, in some records, even personal weapon, while insulting Bismarck crue and (supposedly) bringing entire orchestra onboard to sign Polish national Anthem, after wich (wich is actually confirmed) they broke out of the fight and returned to naval base only because they were runing out of fuel.

They actually helped cos the Bismarck's crew was so confused and exhausted by the Piorun's near constant attacks, that they generally didn't have the energy to fight the Combined Fleet later on.

Damn, this seems so much like Girls und Panzer… just in another form of warfare that fascinates me… fist off, I watched a video doing Bismarck by Sabaton on this, but dreadnought was so perfect! But I will ask, where do I find this show? I wanna watch it, it explores a thing many movies and TV shows don’t really get into: sea warfare: also I do know this on guitar, so playing along to it was fun🙂
