Where in Canada are you based? As some of the US dates in the NE are relatively close to the maritime provinces Quebec and Ontario.

Thank you and your whole family! Your fathers story touched so many of us and you and your son reaching out to us made it so much more relatable! My best wishes to you and your loved ones!

If the M2 gets cold enough, even the oil can freeze or, at least get thich enough that it won't function. There is a story of a soilder under general Paton when they were trying to break the encirclment of Bastogne while under attack that his M2 fired one shot and stoped working. He wound up pissing on the gun while being shot at to try and warm it up enough that it could operate figuring body temperature was around 98°F so his piss would be able to warm it up. As well as storys of tankers building fires under their tanks engine to warm it up to be able to start them. So ya oil doesn't like being in extreme cold for extended periods of time with out making what its in a useless brick.

Not just water but metal contracts as it gets cold. Tolerances get tighter so it takes less of anything to malf them. We're talking in the -40s for actual temperature.

Most things contract when they're cold. Water is very nearly the only exception.

Germany used to utilize captured bombers as transport planes, escorted by a fighter after being captured so the air defences not should shoot them down. The AA gun staff probably thought he was escorting a captured bomber.

temperature at that altitude in german winter easily meansn-60 Celcius thr add windchill from 150km/h plus wind... any metal in those temperatures will shrink and deform as well as oil will be like sticky toffe at best

Here's a neat fact about the video of the meeting for the first time it was taken by a friend his name was Joe Johnson I believe but I can tell you this for sure he was in the same pilot class as Charlie and unlike Charlie he thought Charlie's story was a whole lot more interesting than his own and he was a medal of honor recipient

Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don't Come Back!!) (1980) is the best Peanuts movie.

Yeah, seeing them in concert would be *awesome.* Thing is for me, unless they do a concert in Fargo or Grand Forks, I doubt I'll be able to.

If you haven't already higly recommend checking out the animated story video for Night Witches. Of course with the animated band.😅 Don't do research before you watch it that way it hits harder. The last fact in the video about the commissar always gets me, but I don't want to spoiler anything.
