What part of SPR [a movie that D-Day veterans said was only missing the smell of the battlefield in regards to accuracy] indicates that Overlord was a solely American operation? Almost every band I listen to plays their live music tuned down to more common tunings. It's sometimes for effect, and sometimes for ease.... But hey, in my opinion, the heavier, the better.

LCSRGaming I never understood why downtuning makes thing easier, or for whom it makes things easier. Would you care to explain, if it isn't too much trouble? :-) What I don't get is why they don't record songs in lower tuning in the first place. It just distracts me, when I listen to it live.

It makes it easier for the vocalist. As for why they don't record in the tuning they play live? Well, your guess would be as good as mine. Maybe they record the album and then decide that they want to play it in a lower tuning. I tend to do that with my songs.

Well, I play in Db/C# so if I were to play in E or D, then I'd have a little trouble singing. Keys and the whole downtuning thing both effect how easy a song can be. However, as I said before, ease isn't always the case, sometimes it's to sound heavier or something of that sort.
