This Song is one of the Reasons why Sabaton is huge in Poland.

I always have tears in my eyes when I listen to this song. Each word perfectly reflects the feelings of my compatriots who fought desperately for our freedom. Although they lost then, their sacrifice was not in vain. Their spirit lives in every Pole and allowed us to regain our independence.

There are a few concert clips from the then Woodstock Poland (a few snippets of this video was there) that show how much the Polish crowd was energized by the tunes about their country history. 'Ghost Division', '40:1' are examples. Nice reaction as always and never worry about the length of the Sabaton reactions the fans love them.

This music video features not only two really big name Polish actors but also Swedish big shot Peter Stormare, who's been in several Hollywood productions. I recall that Stormare did the gig for free as he's from the same area as Sabaton and wanted to be part of it as a fan and as a tribute to the story. He plays the German general in the video.

To answer your question, yes, the Warsaw Uprising is still very much remembered in Poland. On the day it started, the 1st of August, each year at the "W" hour the whole city of Warsaw stops for a minute and the sirens go off everywhere as a way to commemorate the event. People gather together also in other cities to show the respect.

I think this was a great idea to show the history first and then the song. That’s very unique and I think you should do that more often with Sabaton. For me it’s always emotional watching Sabaton because when I watch them I HAVE to think about the war. And both my parents were in it. My father drove a motorcycle delivering blood for the Red Cross. And my mother was a Lady Officer with the British intelligence just after the war in Germany deciphering codes of German resistance that was still there after which they could make raids and pick them up. Stay safe and healthy. 🇳🇱🤘🫶💐🌹

Great reaction Suesue and the Wolfman ! I for one don't mind long vids , history and music vid in the same reaction is cool. If you run out of vids to react to...... ;) I would like to recomend checking out "tommy johansson" , one of Sabatons guitarists own channel. He is a great multi instrumentalist and singer. He puts up covers that are heavy metal and some not so heavy , but very good. You might want to check out his vocals with this one. YOU RAISE ME UP (1 OCTAVE CHALLANGE) - TOMMY JOHANSSON

@@SueSueandthewolfman Very much Dank. Ist just not my sentiment, pretty prevailing in truth. We love country just embarrased of history (as unified country we are very much younger than US). The amount of patriotics we see from US ist amazing, sometging that ist very much missed over here not just Deutschland but a lot of Europe. Baffling to a lot of us but we are missing that pride in a flag which ist hallmark of US.
@SueSueandthewolfman2 жыл бұрын
Günter, in some respects I agree. We do rally around the flag a lot, however right now we are divided along very severe lines in this country. I hate to say it but in my 60 years this is the worst and most divided I’ve seen my country. What I would say about Germany in Europe in general is that a united Germany is the best thing for Europe. And if you look at German history, where will we be without all the amazing music, art, jazz etc.! I do hate that the sentiment is not good right now but everything is cyclical . Hang in there brother, and we love you and thank you for all your comments and your wisdom. Thanks again

@@argantyr5154 The Polish Anthem was written during the Napoleonic Wars, when Poland did not exist as a country. He mentions Polish legions formed in Italy that fought alongside Napoleon. Poland and Italy share the same struggle to liberate themselves from the rule of Austria. And this is what the Italian anthem mentions.

Re: German mothers. I am Dutch and in recent years there have been more and more cities in the Netherlands that also starting remembering German soldiers during memorial day. It is still controversial, mostly with the older generation and understandably so, but it bears reminding that a lot of these soldiers (often still boys) did not always have a choice either. I also purposely use the term soldiers here and not SS because these people were there for purely ideological and despicable reasons.

Maybe in Netherlands, in Poland not only the SS commited war crimes, wehrmacht did as well. War and occupation in the west was very different from that what was going on in the east. Just read about "Generalplan Ost". And until this day i meet people in Germany and even netherlands that say the Poles are humans of lower category. Dutch had volunteered to SS...

My grandmother was born and raised in denmark during WWII, she often told us stories from the war. She told us about her cousins (two brothers around 16-19years old, can´t remember exactly), one of the brothers were in the resistance movement and the other joined the n*zis, it ended with the n*zi brother getting shoot and killed by his brother, burried in a shallow grave with his boots sticking out, days later their mother retrived the body and burried him in an unmarked grave. No one in my family know where he is burried, only his mother knew when she was alive, no one else cared due to his believes.
