42 men. He was captured, interrogated in a bunker, killed his interrogator and stole his pistol, and while carrying his wounded lieutenant on his back he captured 42 enemy soldiers and brought them back to French lines. This man is a fucking trooper despite the skepticism back then.

This song is sort of the opposite side of the coin to Father in my opinion. Father was very dark sounding and this one is super upbeat.

It matches the tone of each subject matter. Father is dark and foreboding as is the invention and use of chemical warfare. You can feel the fear and worry such an invention and its use would cause in the song. The first soldier is a triumphant tune about a hero doing heroic things. You can feel the awe and hope such a hero would bring, it's the sound of a victory and celebration.

I think of it more like a triangle. Father was dark and about chemical warfare’s origins, The First Soldier was about the bravery and might of a man who, by many people’s standards, would have died quickly in war, and the Ballad of Bull is a somber yet upbeat middle ground about the strength and saving grace of a man who fought for his brethren.

Blue one is Roche ofc. On the top right is Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart, the unkillable soldier and I think that the bottom right may be Pegahmagabow (the Ghost in the trenches). Bottom middle is probably Milunka Savic (Lady of the Dark). Bottom left Alvin C. York (92nd all the way)? But I have no idea about that guy on the camel, at best it's Thomas Edward Lawrence (Seven Pillars of Wisdom). Or we are getting a few songs soon
