This guy basically went down to the continent, smashed some Holy Roman Empire ass, refused to elaborate further. Gustav II Adolf died during a cavalry charge, that he personally led, at the Battle of Lutzen in 1632, at the age of 37. He's generally percieved as one of the greatest military leaders throughout history. He goes by many names: Der Löwe Aus Mitternacht (The Midnight Lion), Lejonet Från Norden (The Lion From the North), The Father of Modern Warfare, Gustavus Adolphus, Gustavus Adolphus the Great (The only Swedish king to have ever been dubbed "The Great") nad a few more.

There was a big religious war in europe (1618-48) and he fought on the side of the protestant league against the catholics. (thus the rome line because thats where the pope is) Der "Löwe aus Mitternacht" kommt

For another take on the Carolus wars, listen to En Livstid I Krig (A Lifetime of War) in Swedish with subtitles. It tells the tale from the perspective of a simple soldier. The best version is live from Gothenburg - The Great Tour. Very emotional.

The history side of their songs are sometime so uplifting and others you have that bitter happiness. I would love to see a reaction to either Attack of The Dead Men or Night Witches. Either one is an adventure in military history.

For Night Witches, watch the full animated music video as it gives a lot of details to help understand the song. But definitely a banger.

Great reaction!🤘 Love this song!😃 That king of ours was a badass!💪 So much that he got himself killed in the battle of Lutzen in 1632.

Gustavus Adolphus died in the vanguard of his army shot at Lützen. A bit of fear would probably have been good for him.
@Azraeltheangelofdeath5 ай бұрын
Actually in his defense he was killed after imperial forces counterattacked which broke cohesion and in the midst of his army attempting to reform his unit got lost in the smoke that covering the battlefield from burning buildings and ran into an imperial calvary unit which shot and killed him though surprisingly even without their king leading them his army managed to reform and break the imperial lines

I don't think this dude fought the roman empire based on the lyrics "see the catholic's shiver and shake" it was probably after the fall of the roman empire when christians now had control of rome. could be wrong though I did no research on this.

He fought the Habsburg and Catholic forces during the 30 years war (1618-1648), the last religious war in Europe which was started when Protestant kingdoms and duchies within the Holy Roman Empire revolted against the Emperor and almost every major power in western Europe was involved.

Libera impera means liberate and dominate. The war was between the holy roman empire and the protestant nations of europe. The holy roman empire had its center were current day germany is. And you can still to modern day see eagels in german signs and stuff, just as you can see lions in swedish symbology.
