@@astartesfanboy5294 I mean, keep in mind that it embedded pieces of the movie 300 into it, which itself was a tale told to inspire spartans, if you look at the start when the one-eyed guy starts telling it, so naturally embellishment is present. But in this case I think its quite acceptable, in fact its awesome, because it doesnt take away from the fact that 2300 dudes, (300 spartans plus some 2000 odd athenian reinforcements) held off a literal swarm of persians so long. TL;DR: Over embellishment is indeed present, but its appropriate for the tale being told.

All memes aside, the sheer bravery and willpower of the Russians that day cannot be overstated. They had been gassed to the point of being horrifically disfigured, coughing up blood and even bits of their own lungs. They really were dead men, with only days left to live at most. And yet, despite the excruciating pain they suffered, they found the strength to affix their bayonets for one last, desperate charge, determined to make their last few hours count. Your forces halted their advance. The unmistakable crack of a rifle being fired rang out. A young man staggered back, clutching his chest. A ragged blotch of crimson stained his uniform, and blood had begun seeping out from between his fingers. He dropped to his knees, then fell back. Who had shot? It couldn't have been one of your own. Everyone turned to the massive plume of toxic fog, breathing heavily through their masks. Footsteps. Rapid, crazed footsteps. Then they came into sight. A horrendous, bone-chilling sight. A handful of the Russians had not let the gas claim them. They were charging, bayonets lowered, steel-blades craving blood in revenge for the spilling of their own. The handful became a hundred. A hundred, angry faces, flesh sloughing off of their faces, blisters erupting on their corroding skin. You open your mouth to scream. All that comes out is a squeak. You're frozen in place, terror gripping you like the hand of God Himself refusing to let you move. They were getting closer, carrying with them the stench of blood, and the sound of suffering. Do you remember those you've killed before, soldier? These ones remember, too. And these ones are pissed.

Yepp, but they forgot a very important point. The germans didn't flee because of unexpected resistance. But the look of these brave men. They did a counterattack with merely 100 men with urine-wrapped cloth around their faces, couthing blood and chunks of their lungs. Blood running out of their eyes, nose, ears and whatever. Barely able to stand and move because of the poisoning and the pain of the hydrochlorid acid dissoving their flesh from inside and outside. For the germans it must have looked like the dead rising to take revenge for their gruesome deaths.

@@jacobpunke1269 I guess so, i'm not a historian. I just did some research, looking up what hydrochlorid acid does to your body and what happened at the "Dead Men Attack". According to my sources: 1. "They looked horribly. Bearing traces of chemical burns on their faces, wrapped up in rags, they coughed up blood, spitting out pieces of lungs on blooded blouses. " [1, page 1579] 2. "Beim erschreckenden Anblick der „toten” Russen und ihrer rasenden Wut flohen die entsetzten Deutschen in blinder Panik, wobei sie ihre Maschinengewehre zurückließen und sich tödlich in ihren eigenen Stacheldrahtzäunen verfingen." (German Original) "At the horrifying sight of the "dead" Russians and their raging fury, the horrified Germans fled in blind panic, leaving their machine guns behind and fatally entangled in their own barbed wire fences." (Deepl Translation) [2] Just imagine you are using a modern, highly lethal poisonous gas that can even turn gras black. Then, after some time, you go to the trench of the enemy. There are corpses with chemical burns, blood and junks of coughed up flesh everywhere. And then you see some of the "corpses" charge right in your direction, cruelly disfigured and drooling blood. What would you think? The pale woman stood over the dying man, his lungs melting away as the last few licks of life were slowly seared away by the gas. The ticking of a pocket watch could be heard, as she leaned over the man. She asked him: "Your time is up, yet you still persist... Why?" The man, convinced that she was nothing more than a dying man's illusion chuckled, and simply responded with "It was my duty to defend this fortress, and I will do so till my last breath" The woman chuckled at the man's response, and replied with an unexpected answer: "Fine. But remember, when the bell tolls again, I will return for you." With that, the surreal moment faded. The ticking vanished with the woman, walking away with a black cane and a curved silver handle. With an unexpected burst of energy, he found the strength to pick himself up off the floor. Rifle in hand, covering himself with layers of cloth. He looked around, and many of his brothers lay still while others rose with him. The man thought to himself, feeling his body slowly melt underneath him: "Till my last breath..." Edit: So, I'm making my inspirational music rounds on KZbin and wanted to clarify a few things in the comments: 1. I'm a girl 2. I do write short stories (Who I am will remain a secret~) 3. I'm shook this did so well and y'all liked it.

107 years ago, in 1915, soldiers of 13th squadron of 226th Zemlyansky Regiment, who defended the Osovets Fortress, showed the whole world the unbreakable Russian Spirit. 50 soldiers, that survived in the German gas attack, forced almost 7 thousand German troops to run for their lives. This event was marked down as “The Attack of the Dead”

Well I would also retreat. That's like you run in the battlefield where everything is dead and dark, thinking nobody survived the gas and then wounded soldiers wrapped in bloody clothes charge on you like zombies with weapons. I would poop my pants and retread.

@uzer_uzerov2 жыл бұрын

@@jaytea4093 Actually, yes, it's true. But "The Attack of the Dead Men" is a counterattack of a particular regiment that guarded the Osowiec fortress in 1915. So it was the Zemlyansk regiment in Osowiec 1915. Zemlyansk is a small city in the Voronezh region (Russia). Consequently, the Attack of the Dead Men is directly related to the ethnically Russian soldiers of the Russian empire, but not to the Poles.
