If I remember correctly, WW1 quite a few pilots were quite the gentlemen. Many of them being from the more elite families of Europe, because of this they actually knew each other. So, when they were required to fight each other, the intent would be to disable the plane rather than the pilot, giving them a chance to land and live another day.

After he went to the front lines he saw the war wasn't what it was said to be so he no longer wanted to fight in it, but he wasn't allowed to quit so he had to find a way out. That's my theory.

This, this was the video that got me into Sabaton. One day, I was just scrolling through Yt when the thought of a "Red Baron" roared in my head. My mom used to work with some woman called 'von Richthofen' back in the 1970s and 1980s. That woman often told some stories about Manfred von Richthofen to my mother and their colleagues. I still wish she could tell me her stories, but she died before I was born :(

It’s really awesome to see how the quality of these music videos have improved over the years. Thank you Yarnhub for this amazing video, it is one of my favourit stories and Sabaton songs. I just want to add something they sadly did not speak about in the video, his "agenda of honor in the skies": He told his pilots "When you hit an enemy and his craft is going down, don't chase it, don't shoot on parachuts, give the pilot the chance to survive by crashlanding or parachuting out of the falling craft. We are sportsman, we are gentlemen, but we will never be butchers!"

My great grandfather flew as a pilot in WWI and was saved by Eddie Rickenbacker (hope he and also the Kosciuszko Squadron get a song someday!) so this was such an interesting tribute to another avian marvel!

there was a group of people who came along at one point and desecrated his grave and when the people found out they were PISSED on ALL sides. they legit wanted to find them and lynch them. thankfully they managed to safely exume him and send him back home if i remember correctly. they also dropped the same type of wreathe over Boelkes base when he was killed to show their respect for him as well.

Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von richthofen... no meu país (Brazil) o sobrenome "von richthofen" é mais conhecido pelo caso de assassinato onde Suzane von Richthofen mandou dois caras matarem os pais dela, dito que foi por causa de herança familiar. Isso ocorreu em 2006 se não me engano. Não sei porque eu tô falando isso kkkkk eu vi o nome do cara na descrição do video e na hora lembrei desse caso. Enfim, duas histórias completamente diferentes.

to earn the respect of both his enemies and allies was a feat in itself. My opinion is that the baron wanted to go down in a blaze of glory rather than continue dragging on through battles that he considered easy and repetitive.
