We gotta respect the Poles man. Even outnumbered 40:1 as Sabaton said survived for 5 weeks, with basically no airforce and no armour too. All they had was their INSANE Anti Tank guns and the will to exist. The Polish soldiers held bravely against the might of the Wehrmacht and the Soviet army, waiting for Allied support. It never came. Meanwhile in 1940, the French AND British survived for only 6 weeks, with way more troops than Poland, way more Planes and way more armour. The Polish people have always been pressured by other European nations around them, and every time they fought bravely, tooth and nail until every soldier fell. Respects to Poland. They stood up to evil and their sacrifice was never forgotten. Respect to all Poles reading this. Polska na zawsze!!

And if Britain and France attacked as soon as Germany entered Polish land the war would’ve been over much sooner but they decided to wait which is really sad because millions of lives could’ve been saved. Hopefully if something happens this time NATO will actually do something before it’s too late

War is more of a power struggle even between allies. Everyone tries to reach to the top in easy way by inflicting harm on others directly or indirectly.

One soldier halts a 60 Panzers-long convoy for two hours so his platoon could retreat An aviator gets his plane shot down, then lands on a tennis club and starts playing with the people from the club while he waits for rescue A Polish ship that's helping in the hunt for Bismarck goes out of formation, taunts the Bismarck crew and start firing *every* ammo in their arsenal for 1 hour before having to retreat due to low fuel Plus a few other stories I read about them. Some wild stories indeed.

The fallen soldier I remember was my neighbor whilst my family was stationed in Germany. CW5 John Pratt of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade was an Apache pilot shot down in the later years of Afghanistan. He is survived my his wife and daughter, who now live in the UK where she and he are from.

The best tribute to Poland's Thermopylae you will ever find. And an early sign of the sheer fortitude, bravery, and will that Poland would display in the weeks, months, and years to come.
@The_Real_Doom_Slayer9 ай бұрын
There are lots more battles that you can name polish Thermopylae. For example battle of Chodów where 400 polish cavalrymen (300 light cavalrymen and 100 winged hussars) beaten 40,000 ottomans (some sources say that there was from 35,000 even up to 60,000)
