Unfiltered | Thabo Bester Escape: A Crisis for SA Prisons? 18 April 2023

Over the past three years, there were a hundred and seventy-three escapes by prisoners across the country, although Correctional Services says this number is decreasing. But one escape, is one too many, as these are dangerous convicted murderers and rapists lurking our streets before some of them are re-captured.

I think Bester escaped before the fire, the guards during that time must tell that where where they when the fire started what was happening, but for me despite everyone's opinion ,Thabo Bester left the cell before the fire , and he was assisted to leave the cell out

The union is to lenient with their members. One escape is one to many. All the members involved need to be incarcerated. Some of them are dismissed meaning they been excluded from the cases.

There is a channel called Agenda Network here on KZbin and apparently on Facebook too that cover the stories of those who have been rehabilitated. Those individuals share the stories of corruption that happens in prison and the lifestyle. I wonder why government doesn’t reach out as part of the investigation to what happens inside. Because some of the allegations are alarming. Inmates being let out for some days by government officials to do unspeakable crimes outside is just evil

I suggest DCS change from sentences plans to rehabilitation tracking system. Obviously the current system is not working for anyone including the kind of skills it attracts otherwise we will have these widespread incidents will continue increasing.

Mr Mpofu-Walsh in any organisation the leader is responsible for operations of the organisation, correction of anomalies, training and policies and protocols. You don't just blame employees at the shopfloor and trivialise it as normal. In sensitive areas you investigate and conscioutise it. These are issues ministers taxpayers and electorates want answered and done.
