Hope it will work towards improving the economy of Zimbabwe and sell it in Zim Dollar. A pipe line to SADC countries particularly to South Africa otherwise Namibia will take advantage of that space as they will be drilling themselves soon. Western sanctions hit Zim hard and need a proper plan to recover.

Sadly and I hope I'm wrong, I can't help but think that the average Zimbabwean will not see any benefit from this and that "cronyism" will be the order of the day. I just look at Nigeria and the DRC where despite all sorts of mineral wealth the people are still beset with poverty.

Nigeria is not poverty stricken as u suggest its a very rich country , the Giant of Africa . As for DRC the country suffers from multi nationals that Loot alot from the country unfortunately the leaders of the country , DRC, seem to be participants in the looting that king leopord of Belgium started . Belgians have not let go of the DRC resources but have been joined by Australians, French and Canadians .

no country can industrilise,and modernise by exporting raw materials growing tobacco for export, or oil. what creats wealth is industry through manufacturing. if Zimbabwe's oil is not used to produce cheap electricity and power the manufacturing sector. then it is a waste of resources.an oil refinery will enable the production of fertilizer, synthetics fibers for the clothing industry, and raw materials for road construction.

I agree with you but also would advise our fellow Zimbabweans that natural gas should not be burned directly to generate power, but should first serve a fertilizer plant, and the exhaustenergy from the plant will be used to co-generate power. All countries with natural gas, use exhaust energy from the chemical plant to co-generate power. Why? because natural gas is an expensive commodity and it is not renewable.

As a true son of the land (Afrika), I am not happy with this scenario. I have reason to fear that Zimbabwe is not in control. This oil/gas resource will benefit the foreigner more. The gentleman mentioned that 55-60% split on profits benefits Zim more so. Your guys worries are better placed toward your government. Those thugs will try to steal the proceeds. Besides, some cases it's better for the risk factor and liability to be carried by investors. The equipment is extremely expensive & requires certain skill set that might not be available locally yet in your country. Perhaps a 50 year deal would be advisable enough to train competent workers so the state can buy out the investors share at a later stage.

Upgrade Kariba first before initiating in risky projects that waste stare funds Projects like these do not bring results at all.All this money must be used to upgrade Kariba so as to power our industry and improve the economy, it's the only way the majority can generate income and get jobs.Lets see what happens but this is more likely to be a flop

Invectus is a privately owned company and it will operate as such. Diamonds where discovered in Zimbabwe and never benefited ordinary people not that I know of. So to say Zimbabwe is going to improve simply because of gas discovery; uuum I don't agree. Nigeria has the largest deposits of crude oil in Africa and ordinary people don't enjoy the benefits as assumed by many. Africa must operate under one law, one believe and One Spirit to enjoy all the natural heritage. Otherwise we are going to remain slaves to the system.
