Great video. I'm not a sabreur myself, but I love watching it and videos like this really help me to understand what's going on in a bout and what the ref is looking for.

Great video! Can you make one for foil?

Very nicely done. Perhaps one for foil?

At 5:10 you refer to Gu's 5 parry as a "trap" parry. I have to admit I've never heard of a trap parry before. Can you explain that please?

nice explanation, but is it possible to improve quality of video in slow mo? Hope you make same video about foil!
@ryanmamedov93475 жыл бұрын
I don't think slow mo quality can improve. The original recording is in a certain amount of frames per second, and slowing it down shows each individual frame, making it look choppy. The only way to increase quality is for the original recording to have been done with a higher quality camera.

Unfortunately, Ryan Meme is correct. There is not much I can do about the quality of slow motion. I will definitely do a foil version in the future.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. This video is so helpful to tease out what is happening and why. This video is incredibly helpful. In the video, you use many of the official French terminologies, but as a new fencer, I am struggling to understand them. Perhaps a video on official terminology would be helpful to fencers like me.

Thanks! I'm so happy to hear you found it helpful! This might help you understand the terminologies better. www.usafencing.org/glossary-of-fencing

I don't get it. Does making an unsuccessful attack automatically pass the priority to the opponent without him having to present his blade? Have the rules changed so much?
@Chilam.3 жыл бұрын
Yes of course

Great explanations...but next time you might consider including the sound so we can HEAR if there's blade contact on some of these actions (or for sabre, the front foot down before the hit)....you have to use your ears as ,much as your eyes when effing...sometimes more so.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I had to take out the sound because the original video had commentary.

Question. Second touch from Gu. If the start of the attack is judged by hand then Gu starts his attack after Szilagy lands a hit. They are so fast that there are 2 lights but is this not attack on the preparation from the left?
@FencersEdge5 жыл бұрын
I agree that Szilagyi is slightly ahead of Gu with his hand. It's very close... but yes, technically that should have been Szilagyi's touch.

10:34 Really shouldn't award points for that, it's essentially a sim double, the split second prep time shouldn't matter. Rules are annoying.
@FencersEdge5 жыл бұрын
yeah, it's supper close!

@@FencersEdge Yeah way too close to give it to one over the other.
