We just moved to the Sabine area about a year ago and are absolutely loving this fishery!

Welcome to the area! That’s awesome! It’s really a redfish paradise and we do have some decent trout fishing on the south end of the lake and ship channel. We’ve got several big black drum that are all over the lake as well along with bull reds. It’s definitely in amazing shape! The topwater bite for reds and trout is really good right now! If you happen to go this weekend try a chrome spook style top water. Good fishing!

@@rayvillarreal1225 very cool! Yeah this place is awesome. It has everything. It got a little salty this summer. Hopefully it didn’t hurt the bass too much. It’s sure fun to go out there and catch 50+ in a day. Thanks I appreciate it!

@lanceduff

Thanks bud! Glad to have helped you out. There is zero click bait on my channel so you can definitely take what learn from my videos and apply it to Sabine or any other body of water that you fish. In this video I launched at cow bayou and I fished mainly on the north end of the lake. Soon as the river hits the bay take a right and head to the texas shoreline. I was back in that huge pocket and fished a lot of that shoreline. There is big chunks of rock and shell in that area so use caution. I also fished between greys ditch and the southern entrance to the wildlife refuge on the Louisiana side. This time of the year definitely try some big top waters and spinnerbaits. They love them in the late spring! Good fishing.

Oh yeah, they biting. I had a real good time last couple weekends. White swimming super fluke on a 3/8 Berkeley fusion under spin was hurtin the trout. The big reds fell to a 1/2oz chrome green back trap.
@lanceduff
@lanceduff 5 ай бұрын
Heck yeah that’s awesome! That under spin has been such a great lure for me this year. You can’t ever go wrong with the trap 😁
@waylonlevins
@waylonlevins 5 ай бұрын
@@lanceduff Absolutely! Can’t ever go wrong with the trap. I know you like the gold w pink back. It works good for me. On overcast days specifically. But… the chrome green back, salt water series is ridiculous on blue bird days. Chrome blue back fresh water traps work everywhere, all species, in all conditions, 12 months a year.
@lanceduff
@lanceduff 5 ай бұрын
@@waylonlevins nice! I’ll definitely give it a shot. Last week the trap bite died off for me but it was on a really low goofy tide kind of day. Next week I’ll be back out there. Probably Friday or Saturday.

Thank you! thanks bud. Oh yes I do. The nano skeleton is my favorite rod series they make. It’s good material and not too bad on price. Their pro sport rods are cheaper but I’ve done really well on them too. They did have a good sale going on. Check out their website and see if it’s still going. God bless

I’m fishing out of an AlWeld 2070 bay. It’s a big one. 20’ long 70” wide across the bottom. I’ve got a video of it on here before I added all of the goodies to it. It’s extremely comfortable to fish out of. Before this one I had a 16’ aluminum.

@lanceduff thanks for the reply. Trying to build up the courage to put my boat out in sabine and galveston bay systems. Don't know to much about either one. Hopefully one day I will. I'm tired of just freshwater fishing. Thanks for the reply.

@@reggierobinson5934 you bet! I’ve got the lures that I caught the fish on in this video in the description. Check em out! That’s awesome! Come fish the Sabine. It’s a whole lot safer and easier to run than Galveston. Launch at cow bayou in bridge city. That’s the nicest ramp in the area with good parking. For the bayou and river just stay in the middle. There is an old sunken shipyard closer to Orange you’ll want to avoid and the lake itself is very deep. Most shore lines are 2 to 3’ deep. Hope to see ya out here.

Hahaha don’t feel too bad. The north and south levee fishes really good in the spring and summer. Late fall and winter has always been hot or miss for me over there.
@lanceduff
@lanceduff 5 ай бұрын
Good deal! It has a lot of fish in it! It’s really a good area. Just be mindful of that hard current at the boat launch. It can be very bad so definitely wear a life jacket. As far as lures a redfish magic is amazing for that area and the Keith lake area as well. Also a white colored 3.75 rage swimmer or an Xcite Shad nasty swimbait tipping the tail of it chartreuse is a go to for me. It always works. With the incoming weather next week you should do good! I bet they’ll eat really good this weekend. If you can’t get bit on either one of those baits try a 1/2oz pink and gold Rat L Trap. That lure is a 95% guarantee
