People use the word straightforward often in the place of foot in the mouth/arrogance. In general, being straightforward can also be in the context of bindaas tareef karna, jee kholke encouragement dena, jee kholke affection dikhana. But it's weird how people who claim they're straightforward are only honest when it comes to negative behaviours. Everyone can have a negative opinion if they choose to, but it's not always necessary to voice it out. Mainly because it's useless and serves no purpose other than making the environment awkward. And moreover, stating facts is not the same as stating just an opinion. Opinions are subjective and vary. Filtering words is a life skill. People have 100 insecurities and problems to deal with in life, they can definitely do with less rude people. It's not necessary to add to people's mental chaos by unnecessarily being rude or thinking aloud. I'm not just talking of his mom, but in general regarding your opinion of how straightforward is mazedaar. Nothing against his mom in this video though, woh unka dekhein.

Awesome points from your mom: 1 . Pizza butger generation has less energy. Eating once in a while is ok but if soomeone eats roti , sabzi, daal rice occassionaly and fast food frequent then heath is bound to go downhill. 2. Speak in hindi. No matter how educated indians are we love to speak and hear things in our mother tongue or hindi in informal settings. 3 . About view and travel she is absolutely right. Beaches and scenic locations are much nicer in india then in your current trip. That too with plenty of food and commute options. Just to add, she was very very right to stop you from traveling to canada and other places when sky was about to born or a new born. That could have helped in more healthy and stable upbringing of little girl. You may get irritated now but in future you will recall all her sayings.
